Bud's Boys News & Views Welcome to June, nearly halfway through 2024 already. Past week results plus a review of a soggy month of May today but we will start with some SEMO Senior news from the Perryville Tournament. Bill runs away with the 'Older Group 3' division with a net 61 for a 4-stroke victory. Bill immediately gave all credit to his rounds this month with the BB's. "No question, playing with such talented golfers has inspired me to reach back a little further and give it my all!" Gerald manages the tricky Perryville greens well enough to grab a 6th place finish in the 'Older Group 2' division.  The most exciting round, however, had to belong to Leroy. Facing his 3rd shot on the par 5 #1 hole, he struck his 8 iron from 160 yards, (or was it a 6 iron from 80 yards?), anyway, when he reached the green, he confirmed that 'The eagle had landed'!  Ace in the Hole Appropriately, Doc gets his Ace on Card Game Day. Doc records his 4th career hole-in-one today, his third on hole #6. A five hybrid from 145 yards straight at the hole without need of a fortunate bounce. Congrats Doc, the Boys are proud of you! As far as the regular game today, for the third day in a row and 4th in 5 days, a team sweeps the FBT. KZ and Glen are +6 to share Medalist with Raymond. Glen shoots a 1-under 70 to reach his +6. They also win the card game with a full house. Tom wins the CTP to deny the clean sweep. KZ extends record win streak to 13. Rick's streak ends at 10.   Memorial Day always has my mind going in many directions as I once again share some of my thoughts and memories. I would like to thank Deano for sending this out. Very important to note the difference between today and Veterans Day in November. I feel so privileged to be around some of our group, only slightly older than myself, who were literally whisked halfway around the world as teenagers to the very definition of 'A Foreign Land' to serve their country. They have forever earned my respect and admiration though they deserve more for what they experienced. But they are, thankfully, still here and they know more than most that today is to remember those who never returned. A recent article in the local paper about Memorial Day touches on how it has changed over the years. The decision in 1971 to make it a 3-day weekend has expectedly made it more of a commercial thing like the rest of our holidays.  Bud's Boys Illustrated Issue no. 388 May 25, 2024 As I am tapping on my keyboard this Saturday morning, KCC is closed once again as it was covered with another 2 inches of rain during the night. The Boys managed to tip toe around the precipitation this week enough to get complete rounds in on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday with a 9-hole exhibition match on Thursday. Results of these games and some SEMO Senior highlights all in today's issue, but we start with a special award presentation. April Player of the Month The committee had an easy time with their unanimous vote for April P-O-M. This player started the month with a 22 handicap but saw it rise to a 25. He won 2 CTP's for the month and was 2-time Medalist as well. He was also the leading money winner with $92 dollars to show for his 11 appearances. Bud's Boys Sunday Post Two dates to mark down on your calendar. Read carefully. Floyd Fish Fry Saturday June 22 Floyd will host a Fish Fry for all BB's and partners at his place outside of Kelso. Details and directions to come soon. Butch Fest Saturday July 27 Butch will host his BB's and partners get together at his house in Jackson. Last year's event was amazing. I hope those unable to attend last year can make this one. Many thanks in advance to both for the opportunity to socialize with the group outside of the golf course. Let's do our best to make these efforts a fun memory.  That said, for those who couldn't attend last year, it's not this kind of party   nor this kind but somewhere in between.
