 Bud's Boys Illustrated

Issue no. 388 May 25, 2024

As I am tapping on my keyboard this Saturday morning, KCC is closed once again as it was covered with another 2 inches of rain during the night. The Boys managed to tip toe around the precipitation this week enough to get complete rounds in on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday with a 9-hole exhibition match on Thursday. Results of these games and some SEMO Senior highlights all in today's issue, but we start with a special award presentation.

April Player of the Month

The committee had an easy time with their unanimous vote for April P-O-M.

This player started the month with a 22 handicap but saw it rise to a 25.

He won 2 CTP's for the month and was 2-time Medalist as well.

He was also the leading money winner with $92 dollars to show for his 11 appearances.

He is also the only player dapper enough to pull off wearing the 'Stag' ball cap that is the prize for this month's winner.

Congratulations Mikey for an outstanding month of April!

Tuesday May 21

An expected large turnout of 19 for Tuesday play.

UPS closed down for a day to allow Brian to make his 2024 debut.

First day jitters (and playing alongside Jeff) kept his score below expectations but check out Weds. results for his bounce back.

Raymond and Leroy debate advantage of yellow golf balls.

Roger disagrees after whiffing his yellow ball.

Tom wins his league leading 8th CTP of the year to prevent a Royal Flush by the team of Rick, KZ, Scott, and Bill.

Scott performs a magic trick by turning the cards that chose his team into a big handful of cash.

All 4 shoot plus golf led by KZ's Medalist best +9. They sweep the FBT by 15 strokes and win the random skin with a birdie on 17.

Wednesday May 22

With several BB's in Ste. Gen for SEMO Sr. play, a crew of 11 staged a genuine shootout.

Roger improves 15 strokes from Tuesday with a Medalist best +9. Teammates KZ (+7) and Brian (+5) are the first group in, and you know they have to be feeling confidant with their +8, +13, +21 score.

Little did they know about the powerhouse performance going on behind them.

Tom, Rick, Mikey, and Clint were pleased with their +6 on the Front, not knowing it would fall 2 short of Team 1. The Back 9 was a different story, however.

Seriously doubt a team has done better than 28 points on 10,11, and 12. Pretty sure I have been on teams that didn't have 28 points after all 9 holes. Speaking of 9 holes, the 69 points scored on the back has to rank at or near the top ever turned in.

KZ, Brian, and Roger had to be shocked that their +13 lost the Back by 2. That the teams tied the Total with +21 seems appropriate.

Brian wins the CTP in his second appearance of the year.

Team 2 earns 15 cards to win the Card Game with 4 Queens to split today's prize pot with Team 1.

All I can say for team 3 is that their modest total today would have won a couple of weeks ago but need not be mentioned today.

Thursday May 23

Rain and lightning forced us off the course Thursday shortly after we started. We socialized about an hour and went back out for a 9-hole exhibition Match. Unofficial Kudos to Raymond for winning the CTP on #8 and scoring 18 points.

Friday May 24

We had 15 finish 18 holes through more threatening weather on Friday.

Bob was the Triple Crown winner today His +10 Medalist score and 33 points were tops and his CTP on 18 was the icing on his cake. Although his teammates KZ and Rodney both added +3's, the CTP was the only event they won.

Roger followed his +9 on Weds. with a +8 today. Plus 6's from Allen and Bill gave them the FBT sweep.

Scott's birdie on 10 wins his team the Rabbit.

Streaking

Today's fun with numbers involves 2 more than impressive win streaks.

KZ has set the record for a winning streak. He finished April with 5 and has won all 6 times he has played in May for a current 11-game streak.

Right behind him with 10 is Rick. What makes Rick's so interesting is that I had to go all the way back to March 26th to find the last time he didn't win. His schedule has been limited apparently because he has a butt head of a boss who makes him work so much. Despite that, he finished March with 1 win, won all 5 times he played in April, and has won all 4 times he has played in May for his 10-game streak.

How far can they go and who will be the bad teammates who will bring them down?

SEMO Seniors Update

Glen and Bill were the only BB's to place at Poplar Bluff with a 2nd for Glen and a 5th for Bill.

Ste. Gen was another story as we had several BB's pop up on the leaderboard.

Glen gets another 1st place in super senior 1 division. Bob gets 6th and Dean 7th in the same flight.

Allen gets 3rd and Leroy 4th in SS 2.

Bill takes 3rd in Older Group 6.

Great showing by the Boys, keep it up.
