Bud's Boys Reminder  We have moved our first tee time from 9:50 to 9:42 for the foreseeable future. This is everyday Tuesday through Friday so adjust your morning schedule accordingly if you can. Tuesday Play Heat Index in the 100's but all 13 BB's finished the round intact. Scott was Player of the Day, winning Medalist with a double jump +6 to lead his team to a win on the Back. His birdie on #1 also won the Random Skin. This is the 3rd Tuesday in a row the skin was won on #1. Scott insists the cards are not all Red Aces, so we do not have to change the name to 'Not so Random Skins' just yet. Rodney cards a +5 and Clint a +4 to win the Front and Total (Jeff shoots Even). Randy wins the CTP.

Bud's Boys News of the Week Floyd's Fish Fry was certainly a big success. Floyd's fish, as usual was fried to perfection. The sides were also so good that there were many uncomfortable people whose attempts at moderation failed miserably, including myself.  Thanks to Floyd and Karen for being exceptional hosts and everyone who contributed the great food. Jeff's golf shootout was a little on the disappointing side. It turns out that it is very hard to hit an effective shot from 120 yards when your stomach is fully expanded. The level of Jeff's pond is a little higher thanks to the many golf balls now residing at the bottom. After everyone had made their futile attempts, Jeff finally hit the flag stick for the best shot of the night. It should be noted that he also rinsed a ball or two earlier. Friday June 21 Results Tom was today's birthday boy and he treated everyone to cake and much appreciated ice cream at the end of the round. Sorry we have no pictures as Doc

Friday Birthday for Tom- There Will Be Cake! If you like German Chocolate or Pineapple Upside Down Cake, you must show up for golf on Friday. Come for post round festivities if you can't make it for the game. Directions to Floyd's for Saturday Exit 87 - Turn Left at Stop Sign Stay on this road for 1.8 Miles (it is winding) Turn Left at Floyd's Lane before the two toned gray shed Tuesday June 18 With sincere apologies to the estate of Ernest Lawrence Thayer, author of the famous poem, 'Casey at the Bat', I present                            The Mighty KeeZee The Bud's Boys gathered with numbers aplenty, Could KeeZee add to his streak of twenty? Cards were turned to determine the teams, The results made him smile, KeeZee seemed pleased. For by drawing the twosome of Clint and Scott, He's surely assured a share of the pot. A four point five on their opening nine, a lead that would surely suffice, At times perhaps, but not today, It was bested by the team of Dea

Bud's Boys Weekend Update We start this issue with a discussion on 'Streaking'. Not this kind. Dimaggio had 56. Ripken 2632. Byron Nelson 11 PGA wins. Tiger 142 cuts made. Sugar Ray Robinson 91 wins.  All sports streaks probably never broken. So where does KZ's 20 straight wins rank? Hard to say. Maybe we should discuss when (or if) it ever stops. Thursday June 13 A celebration for Randy and Jeff's 68th BD's produced some very high scoring with only 2 of the 13 invited guests failed to reach their handicap number. John was today's Medalist with a double jump +9 but all his team could muster was a tie for the Front. As mentioned above, KZ (+5) stretches win streak to 20 with the help of Floyd (+2) and Bill (+4), taking the Back and Total along with the other half of the Front. Bill adds to their haul by winning his first CTP of the season. Scott wins the special birthday edition of the Rabbit game with a birdie on 10. Tom wins the $40-dollar extra pot for his

Bud's Boys Birthday Bash Thursday A short notice birthday party for Jeff and Randy tomorrow at the course. Probably some food and drink and probably CTP prizes for holes 6 and 8 as they are turning 68 in the next few days. Gifts are not required but money is always welcome. Tuesday June 11 Rodney is the first Buds Boy to wear professional golfer Jason Day's line of loose-fitting golf apparel. KZ helps himself in stretching his winning streak to 19. He and Butch both score +4 on the Front to lead their team to victory. They also tie for the Total. Medalist Roger (+6) does most of his damage in the Back, leading his team to that win and the other half of the Total. Raymond puts one in tight to a blue flag on 18 to earn the CTP. Doc has the only Birdie on Number 1 to take the Random Skin for his boys. Wednesday June 12 It was a Jekyll and Hyde day for many of today's 17 golfers. Several of our group started fast by turning in some big scores on the Front. As is typical for gol

Bud's Boys Weekend Wrap Friday June 7 The Boys ended the week with an 11-man event with 'The Rabbit' as the Play of the Day. Allen predicted a sweep for his team in an effort to stop KZ's incredible streak. Allen's teammate Raymond did his part (Co-Medalist +3) but his par on 14 to snare a limping Rabbit was the only victory for the team. KZ gave his opponents a chance with an unusual -4 performance, but teammates Leroy (+1) and Shelly (Co-Medalist +3) picked up the slack to win the Front and Total outright and a half share of the Back to stretch the streak to 18. Gerald stuck the CTP on 18 to give each team a slice of the money. Everyone's a winner! With sadness I report the loss of Doc's, in his words, "amazing big sister." Tough times for Doc's family right now. Add to that some news I just heard concerning the loss of a member of the group that tees off in front of us and it tells me it may be time for a reminder.  Nothing we don't alre

D Day June 6 1944

Today's story begins in early June 1984, back in my mail carrier days. I was walking through my old neighborhood, dropping off the day's bundle of bills, magazines and useless advertising when I approached the house of Albert Blattel who lived directly across the street from my grandma. He was sitting on his front porch as I arrived. Amidst his stash of envelopes and flyers was this issue of Time Magazine. I had known Albert my whole life, so I felt comfortable enough to blurt out what popped into my mind, "What were you doing 40 years ago, Albert?", not having a clue as to what his response would be. For all I knew he could still have been in school, working, anything. His response surprised me. "I was on a ship in the English Channel waiting to reinforce the initial landing." He made it clear he was not in the first landing although I believe he said one of his brothers was. This is not a picture of Albert. This would be a meaner looking version of Albert

With rain scattered all over the area, BB's managed to play their first rounds of June on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday June 4 Bob takes all the headlines with a Medalist best +7 and June's first CTP. His team also wins the Front and Total. KZ runs his streak to 16, his plus 4 is enough for his team to Win the Back. Glen's birdie on 5 gives his team the Random Skin. Wednesday June 5 KZ takes matters in his own hands today by winning the CTP and shooting a Medalist best +10. This stretches his winning streak to 17 with no end in sight. At least not tomorrow as he has an off day scheduled Thursday.

Bud's Boys News & Views Welcome to June, nearly halfway through 2024 already. Past week results plus a review of a soggy month of May today but we will start with some SEMO Senior news from the Perryville Tournament. Bill runs away with the 'Older Group 3' division with a net 61 for a 4-stroke victory. Bill immediately gave all credit to his rounds this month with the BB's. "No question, playing with such talented golfers has inspired me to reach back a little further and give it my all!" Gerald manages the tricky Perryville greens well enough to grab a 6th place finish in the 'Older Group 2' division.  The most exciting round, however, had to belong to Leroy. Facing his 3rd shot on the par 5 #1 hole, he struck his 8 iron from 160 yards, (or was it a 6 iron from 80 yards?), anyway, when he reached the green, he confirmed that 'The eagle had landed'! Yes, the 2 blue dots Titleist was in the jar. With the eagle penciled onto the scorecard, Le
