Bud's Boys Weekend Update

We start this issue with a discussion on 'Streaking'.

Not this kind.

Dimaggio had 56. Ripken 2632. Byron Nelson 11 PGA wins. Tiger 142 cuts made. Sugar Ray Robinson 91 wins.

All sports streaks probably never broken. So where does KZ's 20 straight wins rank? Hard to say. Maybe we should discuss when (or if) it ever stops.

Thursday June 13

A celebration for Randy and Jeff's 68th BD's produced some very high scoring with only 2 of the 13 invited guests failed to reach their handicap number.

John was today's Medalist with a double jump +9 but all his team could muster was a tie for the Front.

As mentioned above, KZ (+5) stretches win streak to 20 with the help of Floyd (+2) and Bill (+4), taking the Back and Total along with the other half of the Front. Bill adds to their haul by winning his first CTP of the season.

Scott wins the special birthday edition of the Rabbit game with a birdie on 10.

Tom wins the $40-dollar extra pot for his team with CTP's on 6 & 8.

To complete the talk of streaks, here are a few more.

Allen and Bob are currently at 7, Floyd at 6.

Bill has not lost since April 25th, winning his last 9 appearances.

Tom has won each of the 5 times he has teed it up in June. His 'winnings' have totaled up to $19. You do the math.

Commentary on the U.S. Open

Two things on my mind after watching the end of today's golfing Major.

The first qualifies as a "Get off my lawn!" type of moment.
It is very prestigious to be the low amateur in a Major Tournament. The race for today's honor came down to 2 players playing in the same group. The player whose name I didn't bother to remember faced a tough situation. Being 1 stroke down on 18, he faced a 2nd shot from the waste area surrounded by trees. He sent a big slicing shot through the trees, avoided the bunkers and rolled the ball to 5 feet for birdie. The crowd gave him some well-deserved applause as he approached the green and it annoyed me to no end when instead of politely acknowledging the crowd, he took off his hat and started waving it around like he just won the freaking tournament. I thought to myself, "You haven't made the putt yet, idiot". So, it warmed my heart when his putt to tie for the low-Am honor slid by without going in. To put icing on my cake, he missed the short putt back for par to add to his humiliation. Now do your dance, moron.

The other comment is about Rory. I have despised him since he came onto the scene and kicked our Ryder Cup team's butt every time. That being said, I even feel sorry for the way he lost. After making every putt on Sunday through 15 holes, he chokes on 2 short ones. According to one announcer, the first miss was the first putt inside 3 feet that he has missed all year! He will still wake up tomorrow with all the money he will ever need and still have the golf game capable of winning every time he tees it up. But will he ever get the demons out of his head about those 2 little putts?
