Headlines April 1st, 2022 Mikey fires 2 hole-in-ones in same round! While the rest of us sat out Wednesday, fearing a little wind, Mikey went out on his own and carded a hole-in-one on No. 4, and followed up with an Ace on No. 8. This brings Mikey's career total of Aces to 12. Coincidentally, all have been accomplished when playing by himself. Reports from a course worker say Mikey congratulated himself all the way down the 9th fairway. Bud's Boys salutes you Mikey! Board Reverses Policy on Monday Play In a stunning reversal, the Board announced play will be allowed on Mondays. This is exciting news to many who wanted their Mondays back. Unfortunately, the course will be closed the other 6 days to let the course rest. In related news, the board announced they will meet only once a year, instead of monthly, to give themselves more rest between meetings. Big A to Play Black Tees on 18 To make things fairer, Glen said he will hit from the Black Tees on 18. He figures to still win

Doc's Campaign Ready to Take Off   Doc is ready to use any means necessary to spread the news about his running for Kimbeland Board of Directors! Actually, Josh was trying out his electric bike on the course. (Don't worry, he has approval.) He is not able to carry his clubs yet, still a work in progress. Josh being grouped with Leroy brought another thought to mind. How about a sidecar like Col. Klink and Sgt. Schultz from Hogan's Heroes? I can just see Josh and Leroy crossing the parking lot now. Or the fairway. Stay tuned for updates. Tuesday's Golf Action Doc trying to find Dean's "sweet spot". The group showed signs of finding its game. The 17 players combined for a +19 on the round, including 20 birdies. Jeff and Randy led with 3 each, 2 for Andy, Glen, Roger, Josh, and Dean. Glen led in points with 34, helping his team win the front, and added the CTP on 18. This was Glen's 5th CTP in the 10 days he has played since returning from Mexico. He was

Tonight's Blog Sponsored by Jackson Police Dept. Thank you, Jackson PD, for looking out for our club and members! First off, we are going to dispel some unfortunate rumors swirling around one of Bud's Boys after a small incident that ended up in our own parking lot. It is not true; I repeat not true that Big A was thrown in the Big House today. The facts bear out that Glen followed textbook drivers ed technique only to be confronted by an allegedly unreasonable driver not as well educated. Glen calmly explained the situation to the Jackson PD, who then thanked him for his composure, and appropriate response to the situation. Unfortunately, we did not get video of Glen's explanation to the P.D. However, Leroy, who witnessed the interview, gave us his reenactment of Glen's response.   Enough soap opera drama. Let's get to today's golf. Today was our last Monday to play till winter. Thirteen players finished up the round, followed by some cold beverages and plenty

5-Dollar Friday The round started, in the words of Raymond, as the coldest 50 degrees I can remember. Cold breeze combined with complete cloud cover made for a quite uncomfortable beginning. Heavy coats, covered ears, and gloves did their best to warm the players. Last group to tee off is always the coldest. You may recognize the golfer above. Yes, it is Floyd making first appearance since Feb 1. He has been sunning in Floy-rida and was a little shocked at the change in temp. I received a text on 2nd tee box: 84 degrees here in Arizona.  Doc, you are not helping. Besides, don't you realize we are trying to golf? More on Doc later. Thankfully the sun broke free on the back, making for a more than pleasant finish weatherwise. On the course, Bill was Friday Medalist at +3, one up on Glen, Scott, and Shelly. Glen scores most points with 34.  Two great tee shots on No. 4 by Raymond and Butch. Raymond converts this birdie and adds another on No. 9, but it was not enough to stop Tom, Gle

Who doesn't love ol' Yogi? His famous quote listed above came to mind at the conclusion of Monday's play. Remember this picture from March 15? Yes, the Sandy brothers, Doc Sandy and Gary Sandy, were up to their old tricks. It was only last Tuesday these 2 teamed up for an FBT (front, back, total) sweep. The turn of the cards paired them together again today, and I will let you figure out what happened. Speaking of cards, 21 was the number of players involved, making a sizable pot on the table. Four teams went bust, losing their antes. Thanks to Deanos CTP, his team did win 1 hand taking 1/4 of the pot. The rest went to the Sandy gang led by Medalist Gary at +9. Only 4 players handled the windy conditions well enough to raise their number. Besides Gary, kudos to Doc +5, Westy +5, and Roger +2. Doc and Jeff birdie No. 1, a sizzling start to a winning round. Westy stares down his birdie attempt on 13. He drained it, center cut. Bill apologizes for being late to St. Patrick'

St. Patrick's Day Results (and a note from Billie Jo) Sixteen Bud's Boys garbed in green gravitated to the practice green gamely trying to groove their putting grip, guardedly glimpsing over their guts to see the grass. Gee, wasn't that fun. After the round everyone gathered outside to gloat, grumble, and guzzle away any gambling gains. So, let's get to what happened in between.  Best Dressed Couple Award Best dressed couple unanimously goes to Scott and Jeff. Jeff claims he is wearing a kilt. (Reminds me of an episode of "King of the Hill" when Hank Hill walks into his 13-year old sons bedroom to catch him wearing a cheerleaders skirt. "Son, there better be a naked cheerleader hiding under your bed, or you have some explaining to do.") On the course, Doc O'Milde, Roger O'Richmond and Andy Mcllroy grabbed all the green sweeping the front, back, and total. Glen gauged his shot well enough on 18 to win his 4th CTP in his last 6 outings. Doc wi

Season High Turnout Soaring temperatures brought out short pants and a year high 22 players on Wednesday.  Highlights include, Jeff's first CTP of 2022 Rick Medalist +9 Glen and Randy tie at 36 for most points +6 scores turned in by Westy, Allen, Glen, and Randy 4 birdies for Randy (all 4 from off the green) double birdie Raymond and Doc on 8 Statistical Oddity If you remember from the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou", George Clooney refers to a statistical when numbers about anything seemed a little strange. We had our own statistical oddity today when Jeff birdied twice, Shelly and Norm once, leaving Glen as the only member of the team not to birdie. The oddity is that Glen had 36 points. For Jackson graduates and others not keen with numbers, this means Glen had 18 straight pars. Oddity indeed, well played Glen. Also allows him to complain and brag at the same time. " I couldn't get a birdie putt to drop, had to settle for 18 pars." Message from Bud Our
