February Finish and other stuff Tales from the Putting Green I heard this today on the putting green during our pre-round warm up. No names will be given to protect the deprived. Player A: "I just heard on the radio that American men have sex 2 to 3 times a week while Japanese men have sex 2 to 3 times a year." Player B: "That's funny, I never knew that I was Japanese." Tuesday 2/28 The month of February finished with 18 BB's competing on another gorgeous short sleeve shirt day. The weather must have been the biggest factor of the group's whopping +23 scoring.  Lucky Leroy leads the charge of plus scoring players with a Medalist best +8. Special mention must go to Rodney and KeyZ at +6, and Tom and Butch at +5. Mikey chips in with +3. Tom pours in 3 birdies on the Back 9 (4 on the day) to score 20 points to cap his game high 37 total. Raymond edges Tom by 2 inches on 18 to gain his first CTP of the season. Mr. February How hot was Butch this month? On 12

Friday Results Friday was our 11th day played in February and with Monday and Tuesday looking probable, this puts us unexpectedly way ahead of last year's pace. Come out and take advantage while we can. Before we get to Friday's play, how about we take time for a little self-evaluation. Here is the situation to ponder. You have just hit your tee shot on No. 1. In your mind, what did the rest of us just see? A. Nailed it, that must have looked good. B. Not bad, I'll take it. C. I wish I was in the last group, nobody watching. D. Why do I put myself through this torture? E. Tomorrow, I will go to the driving range first. Love to hear your thoughts. Friday 2/24 We had 8 BB's square off in a 4 on 4 match up on 5-dollar Friday. As on Thursday, only 1 player saw his number go up. Mikey's Medalist +4 bests the +1's of Scott and Keith. These scores allow Mikey and Scott to drag Rick and Randy to wins on the Front and Total, allowing Keith's group to salvage the Back

Thursday Results Thursday's round included the poker game for par 3's hit in regulation. Another February day in the 60's had 13 participate. Scoring was extremely tough today. Only 3 of the 13 reached their quota on the scorecards. Good going Mikey for a +1 and Clint for hitting his # on the nose.  Congrats to Gary, the only player to see his hcp # go up with a Medalist +3. This led his team to best score on Back. Jeff wins his 3rd CTP in 2 weeks. (Where are you Butch?) KeyZ, Scott, and Leroy take Front with only plus score of the day (+3). In the closest team competition in quite a while (all 4 teams within 3 points), Doc, Rodney, and Mikey win Total with -6. They also take Poker Game thanks to their 9 cards earned. Wednesday Play As only 4 BB's dared challenge the wind this day. The first 13 holes were indeed windy, but the last 5 included those 40-45 mph gusts as predicted. The game was a combination of match play and CTP on every par 3. The money payouts below. Ran

Butch Show Continues The battle between Butch and Jeff continues with both remaining hot in February. Here is how the last 2 days shook out.  Monday Results As the temperature has risen so has our participants, 17 today. The high temps may have been a surprise, but not the 2 Medalists. Jeff and Butch both finish at +8. Shelly's +7 and Mikey's +6 and John's +5 deserve mention. Bill wins CTP but is just as proud of his near eagle on 12. Butch and John's effort wins Back and Total plus a tie on the Front with Shelly and Mikey's team. Tuesday Results After watching me miss so many short putts Monday, Leroy Presents me with a 'round' golf ball on the first tee to replace my obviously lopsided ball. It helped tremendously as I increased 1 point today. Butch is really testing our handicap system by backing up yesterday's +8 with another Medalist best +10. Leroy's +4 was a distant 2nd. Tom has a game high 35 points with a 1-over 73. Butch even inspired his s

Frozen 5-Dollar Friday This photo was from Wednesday, I assure you no one wore shorts on Friday. There was BB's golf played on Friday. Tee off temperatures around 32 feels like 23 degrees did not deter 6 of our most rugged players (although I believe Jeff was shamed into playing to defend his CTP on Weds). I have not heard any details of the physical challenges from any of the participants, but they did turn in the final totals. Raymond earns Medalist with an impressive +3 in such trying conditions. Tom takes the CTP, stopping Jeff's CTP streak at 1 in addition to stopping his win every day since he has been back streak. Leroy Pulley is selling some golf themed pictures. If you are interested, you can contact Craig Wilson or let me know. Here are new numbers for Monday, should be a good turnout.

Wacky Wednesday Results Temperatures in the high 60's after the fog finally burned off. A nice total of 17 signed up for duty. It appears the weather may be the only thing to stop Jeff this month. In the 3 days he has played since his return, he has won 11 of the 14 events he has participated in. Thanks to his 2nd CTP in 3 tries and teammate Scott's Medalist best +6 (his 4th Medalist in last 5 rounds), his team sweeps FBT and CTP.  A one-on-one showdown between Jeff and Butch may be needed to determine who the real Mr. February is.  Rodney's team takes the poker hand with trip 9's in the 5 cards they earned.

Monday & Tuesday Results Monday- Butch Goes For 4 in a Row Butch knew he faced long odds in his quest for 4 consecutive CTP's, but when he realized this was the biggest turnout of the season (18), he felt a little outnumbered. It didn't help that he was banished to the 5th group as he had to watch player after player tee off in front of him, knowing each one would try to make his task more difficult. 5th group team photo  This included Jeff (thinking he was still in Florida) who rattled Butch a little by wearing shorts in February. He shook Butch up even more when he stuffed his tee shot on 18 to within 2 feet, shrinking Butch's chances to pretty much nothing. Although he hit the green, it wasn't near close enough. He still gets the satisfaction of being one of only two Bud's Boys to win 3 straight. Gary's 70th The hoopla around Butch didn't stop us from celebrating Gary's 70th birthday. Deer sausage, crackers, and beer were on the menu with brownie

Butch Wins 3rd Straight CTP! They said it couldn't be done, but Butch has accomplished what many, many before having tried and failed. He has tied Floyd with a 3rd consecutive CTP. Conversation immediately turned to how we handle this new development. Does Floyd still hold the title until its beat? Do we rename this feat to a 'Flutch' or a 'Boyd'? After graciously treating all participants today with a beverage (after all, this is rarer in our group than a hole-in-one) and having a few too many himself, Butch turned serious and weighed in on the subject. "Come Monday there will be no doubt about the name. We have always had a saying in Perryville, 'We aren't smart enough to (fill in the blank). And I am not smart enough to be too scared or too nervous come Monday. On this Super Bowl weekend, I am going to use Joe Namath's quote from Super Bowl III. I GUARENTEE I will win again on Monday to leave no doubt. Add if Floyd comes up to try and stop me,
