The last day of June brought out 15 of Bud's willing and able Boys. Two of today's players announced yesterday they would not play but reconsidered. Jeff because he was thrown out of the house. Dean couldn't remember why he wasn't coming today, but assured me that after today's -6, the reason is now clear. Thurs Results Mikey Medalist at +7. Honorable mention to Founding Fathers Andy and Norm at +6, and Allen +5. Special mention to Rodney's +4, despite playing last 14 holes with one less club than what he started with. Rest of the story revealed upon request. His team did win Back 9. Andy showed some of the old magic with a solid day of ball striking, resulting in a game high even-par 36 points. His performance wins Front and Total for his team. Bob chalks up his 4th CTP, his reaction to his putt gives away the result. Other Highlights Andy shoots 1 under on front, Mikey and Glen even par. Andy, Randy, and Dennis M have no circles on their card, that doesn'

Bud's Boys Hits 100 Blog Mark! Yes, this edition is the 100th blog since we started last December. We have received dozens of congratulatory notes at our offices today. We will share some of the best ones later. Wednesday Results Allen's second Medalist performance in 3 days, this one +8, leads his team to Front and Total wins. Josh, Glen, and Dean are only team to improve on the back, giving them one leg of today's game. Jeff's 4th CTP of the year breaks his team even on the day. Unfortunately, Bill's +6 and Tom's 3 birdies to start his round were not enough to prevent the other 3 teams from splitting up their team's money. Big Bird and Tweety Bird Attend 100 Blog Bash Congrats Notes Dustin Johnson "Congrats Bud's Boys on your 100th blog. Thank you for growing the game of golf." "Who the heck are Bud's Boys?" We are more than honored to present The President of the United States. President Joe Biden " A big thumbs up to Bert

Temps in the 70's greeted 14 BB's to start a new week. An early 9:00 start helped raise anticipation of some great golf, and indeed there was some. At least on the front. Only Mikey was able to put 2 solid 9's together, the only player to see his number rise. He wins Medalist with +6 and totals most points with 31. He leads his team to Back and Total victories. Rick, Randy, and Bob used most of their good shots on the opening 9 to win with +7. Randy wins his league leading 8th CTP to earn last event. 16th Hole Action Raymond throws hat in disgust after a rather weak chip attempt. Mikey stares down what will be a solid 2-putt while Clint awaits the first of his 4 putts on the hole. The Circle of Golf Disney gave us the circle of life. Bud's Boys give you the 'Circle of Golf'. Rick pays off Raymond for their side-bet, who then pays off Clint, who will likely hang on to it, until the next time.

5-Dollar Friday Results A light turnout of 11 competed for the 5 events. Allen's Medalist winning +9, and Scott's long putt for bogey on #3, eked out a 1/2-point victory on the front for their squad. They also take Rabbit to break even on day. The next 3 behind Allen were teammates Stan (+7), Leroy (+5), and Brian (+4), more than enough to win Back and Total. Brian wins his first ever Bud's Boys CTP to give team 3 of the 5 events. Brian graciously bought drinks for all present to celebrate this huge achievement and encourages all Bud's Boys who were not present today to put their next several drinks on his tab. His commemorative gold watch will be delivered by UPS. After collecting his winnings (and scoring 30 points), Leroy declares "I am not scared of anyone!" "Come at me if you dare!" Bud's Boys News Roger joins us on practice green Friday morning. He is doing therapy 3 days a week, gaining some stamina and speed on his walking, and hopes to

Lower heat index led to better scores on Thursday. Not a one of the 4 teams finished in the minus category.  Rodney, Tom, and Brian only team to all finish plus for the day, winning Front (+7 1/2) and Total (+11). Scott saves the day for his team by taking CTP. His subsequent birdie putt wins Back 9 by 1 point. Bob is Medalist at +7, 3 better than Glen, Tom, Brian, and Allen.  Glen top point getter with 34. New Scoring System Examples First off, please excuse my cranky attitude this morning. I am sure it was the residue of yesterdays post round hangover (physically, not alcoholic). Here are how today's scoring went for my team. Team 1 Randy needs 28 points     14 a side Scott             23                 11 1/2 Glen              30                15 81 total points                   40 1/2 a side We scored    36 on front, a minus 4 1/2 We had        46 on back, a plus 5 1/2, total +1 What about tomorrow? This part hasn't changed. If you score plus 2 or better you go up, minu

How much difference does humidity make on the golf course? Yesterday our group combined for a +33. Today's higher humidity certainly contributed to our -16 showing today, -18 on the back when everyone's tanks were running low.  Floyd kept his cool well enough to win Medalist with +4, Jeff most points with 31. That was good enough for their team to sweep FBT. Tom's CTP cuts his teams losses to only a dollar. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Bud's Boys Celebrate First Day of Summer and Tom's 71 (Years, not Score) Sixteen gathered under the tree of knowledge, awaiting the drawing of the teams. The bad thing about being in the last group is the extra 20-minute wait. Here, Rick works on his swing while Mikey checks his stocks and Westy sends Anita another love note. Scoring way up today as group finished a total of +33 on the day. In fact, 12 of the 15 players in the game (Allen could only play 9) finished on the plus side of the ledger. Scott earns Medalist with +8 (helped by an Eagle on 1), but was closely pursued by Tom, Rodney, and Glen at +5, and Rick at +4. Glen leads points with 35, followed by Tom (33) and Jeff (31). Birdies (or eagle) were scored by 12 of the 15. Bob and Brian added to Scott's score for wins on Back and Total. This crew tallied 10 points on hole 1 (birdies by 'Big' and 'Little' A), just enough to win Front by a single stroke. Rodney wins the CTP with a cut 6-iron to about

What is worse than losing by 1 point? Maybe when you are sitting inside with your more than impressive +12 on the front, only to see the last group come in with a +13. Such was the case Thursday afternoon. Kind of like holding 4 aces only to see someone lay down.....  a Royal Flush. In fact that is now our new term for 1 team sweeping 5 events. The team of Andy, Scott, Brandon, and Allen score +13, +5, +18 for FBT. Andy's CTP and an overtime Rabbit complete the 5-way Royal Flush. Consolations to Tom For his +8 Medalist performance, and game high 34 points in a losing effort. Congrats Brandon for a second consecutive +6. Has the young man discovered the secret of golf? Tune in next week to find out. I apologize for no photos today, thought my phone wasn't working, but it was user error. New Scoring System In an effort to more confuse our members, we are tweaking our scoring system a tad in hopes of more consistent  results. This will require dealing with 1/2 points, but we fe
