Back to Normal? For 1 Day Anyway! No rain, 20 BB's on the tee box, lots of information exchanges (gossip), and another Birthday celebration. Nothing brings out the crowds like free beer and food. We had co-celebrants Tuesday with Rick and KZ sharing the spotlight. Gerald was today's Medalist with an eye-opening +8 after a month long layoff. Marty wins his 2nd CTP of the season, stopping Doc's attempt of a 3-peat. Tom wins the birthday bonus CTP on #8, winning a sleeve of new Pro V1 golf balls. Butch wins the 'tough day on the course' award with a -7. He wins a sleeve of 'experienced' golf balls with which to practice with. Leroy ends the festivities with yet another amusing tale. (while sporting his new Jack Nicklaus polo)

How green is your yard looking these days? Really nice. That's great to hear. How is your golf game? Yeah, a little rusty. Better clear Tuesday on your golf calendar. Bud's Boys Tip of the Week

In Bud's Boys action today, Don McNeeley and Grant Dade squared off against Brian Alworth and Bob Reeves.  Actually, it was our own weather people.  Raymond and Brian took on Scott and Doc. Raymond and Brian easily won the Front and Total, and apparently felt guilty, handing the Back to their opponents by a measly 1/2 point. Doc wins CTP, giving each team 2 events, making the game a complete waste of time moneywise. (Flutch alert: Doc has 2 CTP's in a row!) Truthfully, I'm glad Brian was able to salvage another round during his week off. Congrats to him for being Medalist of the day.

Leroy Calls His Shot! The first day of August didn't go as well for some as it did for others. I started badly by forgetting my roster print outs, requiring me to write down names, leading me to omit the first Bud's Boy to show up today in Westy. After my mistake was rectified, we had a re-draw for the 5 3-man teams. With a threat of Weds rain, Tom suggested a Tuesday Card game, which we did. (By the way Tom, my team offers belated thanks for your idea.) Before we even made the teams, Leroy announced his intent to start August by playing like he did in June (very well), not like he did in July (not so much very well). He comes through big time by carding a +4 round, second only to teammate Dean's Medalist best +6. Their scores were good enough to carry John along for a FBT sweep. Scores were extremely tight among 4 of the teams. Only 1/2 a point separated 3 teams on the Front, and a point and a 1/2 on the back. Only 4 points separated the 4 teams for Total. The fifth team ...

July Review, Weds-Thurs Results, and Happy Birthday Leroy!!!!! Today (Saturday) is indeed the 75th BD of our beloved Sargent at Arms, rules arbiter, and keeper of the peace. Thanks again for his generosity on Weds. (details below) when he hosted an early BD celebration. Reach out to him today if you can or better yet, drop off his gift. Just leave the beer at the door, he will pick it up later. He has already received wishes from fellow yellow golfers. Wednesday July 26 Leroy surprised the gang with cooly towels for everyone and post round drinks and food to celebrate his upcoming 75th on Saturday. On the course, Doc's Medal best +7 and Tom's 38 points (eagle on 3) dominated team play as they won the Front by 9.5 points and the Total 11 points clear of their closest pursuer. Raymond's CTP, plus team victories on the Back and in the Card Game, make his team the Money Hogs of the day. Thursday July 27 Extreme heat kept several away, leaving 10 BB's to compete on a Rabbit...

Tuesday Play Last week of July promises to be a hot one. Scores not so much, at least for the day. Only one team finished the day on the plus side. Bob edges teammate Glen to win Medalist (+5 vs +4), their team takes Back and Total. Rick and Westy combine for +5.5 on Front, leading team to that victory. Teammate Tom claims CTP giving team half the pot. Doc Reports a Norm Sighting Norm and Elaine run into Doc at local eatery.

Washed Out Week! At first, I thought the 'Eurhythmics' single 'Here Comes the Rain Again' was an appropriate way to describe the past week. On second thought, 'Rainy Days AND MONDAYS  Always Bring Me Down' by the Carpenters fits our group even better. Three straight nights (Tues, Weds, Thurs) Scott sent me the same text while I was lost in east Tennessee. "No results today, rained out."  Here are some pics from Raymond and Jeff. I can't remember the last time we lost 3 straight days to rain in July, but I hope it was for the best. There was golf played Weds at Gatlinburg golf course by Shelly and me. To say the least, it was a 'hilly' venue. Leroy claims to have found this picture of me on vacation.... but everyone knows I wouldn't wear such plain looking shorts. A couple random thoughts from being away for a week. Every business in the area we were staying either had 'Bear' in the name or a picture of one on their advertising. ...
