Happy New Year 2026
Happy New Year to all BB's. Looks like the opportunity to open the 2026 season this week is very high. Weather looks promising so clean off the clubs and start your year early.
Course opens Monday at 11:00. The rest of the week starts at 9:50.
2025 Bud's Boys Year in Review
Like most years, 2025 had its share of highs and lows. The highs included the addition of 9 new players to the group. The lows were extremely tough this year which makes this a good time to remind everyone of the goal, or mission statement if you will, that our group strives to achieve.
Simply, 'The Group Comes First', and 'Don't be the Guy'.
We want a day of golf to enjoy some fun competition and look forward to doing it again the next day. Do what you can to add to a good day for all around you. Don't be the guy that can ruin the day of those around you by bad attitude or bad decisions.
Although there were reservations that adding 9 new players was not necessarily a good idea, all worked out. The new players seemed happy to be a part of the game and also the after-round brag and whine sessions. I have heard zero issues with or about the newcomers, so they did their part, and I hope we did ours to ease the transition.
Every day we play is a blessing, take advantage. Here's to an awesome 2026.
Oh, I remember I heard one concern about the new players, that they made our average age jump quite a bit. I responded that while that was a true statement, it was also true that they make the rest of us look younger and better looking.
Words of wisdom from Hall of Famer Bob Feller:
One more to consider.
2025 Numbers
Mother Nature was not kind to the Boys this year, at least not compared to the last couple of years.
We played 147 days this year, down from the 165 in 2024 and the 180 in 2023.
The 45 people who participated this season played 2165 rounds, an average of nearly 15 players per day.
As usual, Scott clocked in the most times with 135. Here is our Top 10 in appearances.
135-Scott
125-Glen
113-Randy
90-Ray
90-Doc
87-Butch
86-KZ
86-Roger
82-Wayne
81-Tom
Interesting, to me anyway, was although we had 11 players last year play 90 or more rounds compared to 5 this year, we had 18 players play at least half (74) the time compared to only 12 last year.
CTP
Glen ran away with the crown this year, far outdistancing the field.
29 different players won the CTP
20-Glen
11-Doc
10-Raymond
9-Charlie
8-Butch
7-Tom
7-Randy
7-Scott
7-Roger
7-Wayne
6-Clint
6-Don
Medalist
Medalist is the player(s) with the best plus performance of the day.
Scott held off Ray by 2.
15-Scott
13-Ray
12-Randy
12-Glen
10-KZ
10-Roger
10-Clint
9-Doc
9-Don
8-Rick
8-Butch
8-Ron
Thursday Medalist
On the day where it pays to be Medalist, Ray edges Scott and Don.
5-Ray
4-Scott
4-Don
3-Randy
3-Brandon
3-Roger
3-Ron
3-Clint
Points
Most points scored on the day. No surprise that Tom and Glen were mainstays at the top. A total of 17 players could say they had the top score at least once.
48-Tom
48-Glen
31-Randy
13-Wayne
7-Doc
5-Rick
5-Charlie
$$Money
The top 7 money winners netted at least $30 for the season.
1-Glen
2-Don
3-Roger
4-Doc
5-Tom
6-Shelly
7-Marty
Impressive that Shelly and Marty accomplished that with only 31 and 28 appearances respectively.
Rounding out the Top Ten
8-Bill F +$23
9-Raymond +$20
10-Allen +$14
Unfortunately, 7 players 'contributed' $30 or more than their entry fees. The 7 include 2 players with handicaps in the 30's, 3 in the 20's and 2 in the teens so it really comes down to 'Luck of the Draw'.
Numbers show 27 of our 45 players landed between the plus/minus $20 mark, hopefully showing the game usually breaks even.
Jeff played 76 times and won $380. Do the math and Jeff breaks exactly even on the year (minus buckets bought of course).
Clint played 74 times and won $375. That makes him a winner! A $5 winner!
Randy - cudos on your explanation of Bud’s Boys philosophy and your 2025 year end review . Looking forward to to more tall tales and great (?) golf . Doc
