Sunday September 28
Champion Golfer of the Year 2025
Tournament was finished in the two scheduled day under threatening conditions. Round 1 had to be completed before the start of round 2 as 5 golfers needed to finish hole 18. All worked out well although we lost a few competitors to the 'cart path only' rule.
Tom jumped out to the first day lead with a 40-point performance to place him at the top with +5, one shot ahead of Rodney. Here is the top 9 going into day 2.
Day 2 scoring improved dramatically on Wednesday.
The top 9 players on Tuesday combined for a total of +14. Wednesday's top 9 scored +27, led by Brandon and Keith with +6's and Gary with +5.
Brandon's score, added to day 1 was enough to claim the trophy by 1 shot over Gary and 2 in front of Keith. Here are the Top 10 finishers of the 2025 CGOTY tournament.
Naturally, there were plenty more winners as there were several ways to win a prize. Here is a list of contest winners followed by the entire field box score.
Brandon becomes the youngest player ever to win the coveted trophy. Congrats Brandon!
For the record, this is a two-day tourney. Raymond still holds the record score with a +12 in 2023.
Thursday September 25
Doc and Rodney celebrate their birthdays (77 for Doc and 85 for Rodney) on Thursday Medalist Day.
An obvious case of tournament fatigue was evidenced by the total lack of scoring on a rather nice September afternoon. The 15 participants combined for a -43 score with nobody seeing their number move up.
Brandon again has the top score with a +1 to split the Medalist honor with Randy. Brandon also wins the iron man birthday challenge.
For Doc's 77th, everyone had to use only his 7-iron on the par 4 7th hole. Brandon came through with the only par.
Glen earns his 15th CTP, his first this month.
Friday September 26
Brian is the Medalist with a +5 giving his team the Back 9 victory.
Doc wins his first CTP as a 77-yearold.
