The wait was over for the 9 Bud's Boys who teed off this morning. A full 19-day layoff was apparent as Rick wins Medalist with an even score. Nobody was able to figure the slow greens and post a positive score. Weather was great, course was not sloppy or muddy. On the contrary, no standing water with only a few soft spots to avoid.  Raymond wins his first CTP.

Another well attended lunch on Wednesday. As you can see in the 2nd photo, Stan joined us and shared the good news that he paid his membership and will be back with the group in 2024. It has been 17 days (feels even longer) since our last game. The good news is that it seems certain we will play this week. The day the course opens has been up for debate the last few days. Super optimistic Doc has hoped for a Monday start (wouldn't bet the house). Not so optimistic Dean's first choice was Thursday. The secret committee sent Raymond out this morning on a secret scouting mission at the club. After he walked the entire course and considered all the relevant factors, he has predicted a Tuesday game. Dean has countered with a Wednesday cart path only opening. Regardless of the day, it is time to clean the clubs, make some swings, and in Leroy's case, read those last few articles on game improvement because we will have golf this week! Hole-in-One Update Westy has let us know th

A Baker's dozen of Bud's Boys convened at a local eatery on Wednesday to discuss the important issues of the day as well as raise a glass or 2 as we lunched. Many topics were broached, including some BB's business (don't worry, we didn't ban anyone, well not yet anyway, but not being present certainly ups your chances), including Shelly's recent hole-in-one. As we have previously acknowledged, this was her 3rd which puts her in rarified air when it comes to the millions of golfers worldwide who do not or will not get to that number. But did you know .........., that when it comes to our little band of golfers known as Bud's Boys, Shelly's 3rd ties her with Glen and Doc who also have 3. Very impressive indeed. But did you know ........., that two of our special octagenarians, Rodney and Dean, have each jarred 4 shots from the distant tee boxes. Four Aces are hard to beat in poker, but did you know ........., that our one and only Sgt.-at-arms, that master

One Of a Kind! At exactly 1:11 p.m. on Thursday 1/11, Shelly took 1 practice swing before sending her Titleist 1 on 1 really great looking line to the pin. The ball took 1 bounce, 1 skip, and about 11 inches of roll before it disappeared into the hole for her 3rd career hole-in-one (first 1 on 18). She took a Phil Michelson type jump (a little more than 1 inch off the ground) and let out a celebratory whoop. (This is all true except the 1:11 time. It is likely, however, that at 1:11 she was on hole 11.)  Her shot was witnessed by playing partners Butch and Glen from the tee box. Roger, Brandon, Stan, and very thankfully myself were watching from the clubhouse. Leroy was near the clubhouse when he heard the commotion as well as Doc, KZ, and Gary back on 17 green. This capped off quite a day for Shelly and her team as they won 4 of Thursday's 5 events. In a pre-round discussion Glen predicts his partners scores nearly perfect. He suggested that Shelly and Butch would each

Bud's Boys 2024 Season in Full Swing The first week of 2024 is in the books as 16 Bud's Boys  (Saw Bud this weekend. He is growing sideburns to celebrate his recent 80th birthday.) participated in the 4 days played. Rough and raw conditions held the numbers down on 3 days but couldn't keep the boys from getting their golf itch scratched. Wednesday brought out a week high of 14 to take advantage of a very pleasant January morning and afternoon. Roger and Glen made it to all 4 sessions with several making 3 appearances. Butch takes the early money lead by winning $26 in his 3 days of play. Speaking of Butch, he would like you to remind him to close his truck door.  You never know who might look inside. Also, if he takes off his jacket during the round, remind him where he left it. Thursday Results I will continue to recognize the Medalist after each day of play. However, since Thursday is 'Medalist Day' and you actually get paid for it, you will be the 'Medali$t&#

Roger Falls Just Short Although he didn't join their exclusive club, Butch and Floyd give Roger a consoling pat on the back. The pressure waiting for Roger on 18 seemed to throw his game off early on. He gathered himself enough to hit a solid tee shot on 18 only to see it land behind 2 closer shots. Doc claims the day's CTP while Jeff gets an 'Atta Boy' for second closest. We had a frost delay that pushed our starting time back 1 hour. "Boys, we have the go ahead to start. Anyone who needs to use the bathroom first raise your hand." Scott, Jeff, and Butch win 2 events and split a third. Randy, Glen, Allen, and Dean win the card game when their 10 cards produce a club flush. Highlight's today include; Rick wins Medalist with +7, the best score turned in this year. He also has 3 birdies on the Back 9. Glen scores 19 points on the Back 9. Dean has a birdie 'turkey' with 3-in-a-row (9-10-11). Dean shoots one between the trees on 17.

Roger to go for 3!! The first round of 2024 had no Clydesdales nor jet flyovers. All we had were 6 somewhat chilly players on the opening day roster. Roger made the most of it by winning the first CTP of the new year after winning the last one of 2023. He will be back tomorrow, so put on your heavy clothes and make him work for it on Wednesday. Doc, Raymond, and Randy win 3 and a half of the 5 events.
