One Of a Kind!
At exactly 1:11 p.m. on Thursday 1/11, Shelly took 1 practice swing before sending her Titleist 1 on 1 really great looking line to the pin. The ball took 1 bounce, 1 skip, and about 11 inches of roll before it disappeared into the hole for her 3rd career hole-in-one (first 1 on 18). She took a Phil Michelson type jump (a little more than 1 inch off the ground)
and let out a celebratory whoop. (This is all true except the 1:11 time. It is likely, however, that at 1:11 she was on hole 11.) Her shot was witnessed by playing partners Butch and Glen from the tee box. Roger, Brandon, Stan, and very thankfully myself were watching from the clubhouse. Leroy was near the clubhouse when he heard the commotion as well as Doc, KZ, and Gary back on 17 green.
This capped off quite a day for Shelly and her team as they won 4 of Thursday's 5 events. In a pre-round discussion Glen predicts his partners scores nearly perfect. He suggested that Shelly and Butch would each score +6 and he would try to hold his own. In fact, Shelly did shoot a +6 while Butch did 1 better at +7 to earn the Medali$t. Glen must have ESPN.
Shelly and I would like to thank everyone for making this (in her word's) a very, very special day.
Scott made a Shelly a personalized plate.
That night marked the first time I spent the night with someone who has made 3 hole-in-ones, that is if you don't count rooming with Bud on a Kentucky golf trip.
