July 4th Edition

July 1 Results, June Recap, Fun 4th Facts with Billie Jo

Happy 4th everyone, hope you are spending your day doing exactly what you want to do.
I see golf (weather permitting), burgers, fireworks, and maybe a refreshing beverage or two on my agenda. Probably should see what Shelly is doing also. Good luck on your choices and see you later in the week.

Let's start with a July 4th fun fact from Billie Jo.

Fun Fact 1

"Hey Boys, did you know the Liberty Bell is rung 13 times at 2:00 pm every 4th, by descendants of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, to honor the 13 original colonies? Kinda cool. I will be back with more later on."

Friday July 1 Results.

Decent conditions and perhaps better focus resulted in a high scoring day to open the month of July. Only 2 of the 15 participants saw their number go down, one barely. The group finished +18 on the day, but continued our good front bad back trend with a +21, -3 breakdown. Our worst score at -6 was turned in by Rick, who happened to atone for his play by winning his first CTP of the season. Moral of the story, of course, is to never give up. All is forgiven by teammates with one good shot on 18. Well done Mr. Rick! Your performance breaks your team even on the day.

Rodney, Allen, and Raymond took the good front trend to an extreme with a winning +8 1/2, followed by a -7 1/2 back. Still, winning 1 event breaks them even on the day.

Doc, Randy, and Clint took advantage of this 5-dollar Friday by catching the Rabbit. All chipped in by each making 1 birdie on holes 4,5, and 9. Break even day for them also.

Bill's Medalist +8 and Tom's top point total 36 (eagle on 1) results in runaway wins on back and total.
This display of golfing prowess makes them the big winners on the day. Westy returned today and contributed a birdie on 6. Good to see the fist-pump is back.

Unfortunately, this leaves only 1 team out of the 5 competing without a victory. However, Leroy, Jeff, and Glen can relish in the enjoyment of their company together that was deprived to everyone else. Has to be worth 5 bucks.

Fun Fact 2

"Did you know John Adams predicted Independence Day would forever be celebrated with parades, bonfires, and fireworks? However, he was forever P***** Off that it wasn't celebrated on the 2nd of July when it was passed. Come on John, get over it already!"

June Recap

We played 16 times in June, 1 more than 2021. We had 34 different players participate in a total of 203 rounds, an average of about 13 per day. Scott keeps his streak alive (now at 70) by playing all 16. Bob, Jeff, and Scott were biggest winners for the month. Tom and Leroy, however, could use a hug. Speaking of hugs, back to Billie Jo.

Fun Fact 3

"This one is kind of creepy. Did you know that 3 Presidents who signed the Declaration of Independence died on July 4th? Adams and Jefferson 50 years to the day in 1826, Monroe 5 years later in 1831. Chilling! Stay cool out there today Boys!"

Fun Fact 4

"Last one Boys! July 4th, 1778, George Washington gave troops a double ration of rum to celebrate the 4th. I believe Bud's Boys deserve a double shot of Fireball for every birdie this week to honor Washington and the troops! That's all for today, I hope you found these fun facts to be 'revealing'. Happy 4th everyone!"
