Tuesday March 14

Semo trails as I type this, still time for comeback. Tuesday Play We had 10 BB's battle the elements on the Front 9 before the predicted sun and warmer temps took over on the back. It was no coincidence that scoring was much better (by 32 points) on the Back 9. We tried a 2-man team format for the regular game and a 3, 3, 4 men teams for the card game. Doc and Jeff take Front and Total for 2 of the 4 possible victories.  Roger's Medalist +5 carries Rick to a win on the Back 9. Raymond wins CTP for him and Scott. In the card game, Raymond, Rick, Randy and Bob needed all 7 of their cards to come up with the winning hand (a pair of deuces) to split the $12 pot.

Friday Results, Week Review, and Birdie Bingo I will start out with Birdie Bingo which most of you already know how it works. We just finished a trial run with 3 teams that just ended after about a month of play. The idea is for your team to be the first to birdie all 18 holes on the card, similar to a cover-all in Bingo. As previously stated, it took about a month with 2 teams going the last week with each team needing only 1 more birdie before one team finally completed their mission. It seemed to add some fun to each day (the general idea) and some extra camaraderie to the individual teams. I will be taking sign-ups for our next game with teams being drafted on April 1st. We will use our individual numbers posted on that day to make the teams as even as possible. Remember that you don't have to play every day, but the more you play the more you can contribute to your team. Keep that in mind before you put in your 5 bucks to enter. Doc pays off Birdie Bingo bet to Jeff. Doc said...

Tom has 5 birdies in his game high 34 points. Scott earns another Medal with +4 and also CTP, snatching it from Mikey on the last tee shot of the day. Teammate Clint's runner-up +2 and Roger's +1 gives them Back and Total.

Tuesday March 7 Temps 20 degrees cooler than Monday but hardly noticeable to the tougher skinned BB's. It was a fair game all around as each of the 4 teams (14 total players) won at least 1 of the 5 events. Gary's Medalist high +5 gives his team 2 of the 5 events (Front, Total) making them the big winners on the day.  Side note to Rodney. Butch wanted to be sure you knew he was part of Gary's team. Tom takes CTP for his team. Raymond's runner-up +4 and Bob's +3 (and Leroy's -7) earn Back 9. Roger's +2 was to no avail, however his team earned enough cards to win card game with a full house (Queens over 2's). Wednesday March 8 Another day of spreading the money around as each of the 3 teams win something. Raymond, Scott and Randy are the 'Money Hogs' winning Front, Total, and Randy's CTP (Andy, hope you are reading this). Rick's modest Medalist +2 leads team to victory on Back 9. Tom's PAR on 11 wins the overtime Rabbit game. Do not q...

Monday counted 20 BB's on the first tee. Unfortunately, only 19 finished all 18 as Leroy, on hole 3, took his club a little too far back and pulled his gluteal titleist projectile accelerator muscle. A little Tiger Balm tonight should find him back in the starting lineup tomorrow. Clint finds enough of his game (at least for today) to take Medalist honors with +5. Honorable Mention to Shelly, Dean, and Butch with +3's. Dean slides in a nice approach (close enough to complete the birdie) on 18 to claim CTP. Doc's unexplainable score today (look for yourself below) has him considering drastic training methods.

Thursday Results, February Review, Old Curmudgeon Rant on Sports, Weekend Edition Please skip down to 'February Review' if you have no interest in high school basketball. Before we get to the golf, I find myself having to vent my frustrations after watching a 'District Championship' game last night. My son loves Friday night football and basketball and I try to accommodate when possible, so I always hope for a decent game to watch. Last night's game was in Dexter with Dexter facing off with Cape Notre Dame. How exciting was this game you ask? After taking a 12-10 lead with 2 minutes left in the1st quarter, Dexter did not score a point for the rest of the half. That's 10 minutes OF ZERO POINTS! Ever the good sportsmen, ND returned the favor by NOT MAKING A BASKET IN THE 3rd QUARTER! Only a terrible call by the ref on a clean block allowed ND to make 2 free throws with 2.1 seconds left to prevent them from a goose egg in the 3rd. Am I watching a soccer game here? ...

Wacky Wednesday  Warm weather stays around to greet the 1st of March with 16 BB's clocking in for duty. Items of note on this day include; Butch doesn't show, already missing February. Glen returns from Mexico after a near 3-week absence, cards 4 birdies. Dean and Rodney battle the IRS, missing today's fun. Keith wins CTP with near hole-in-one. John-Boy Medals with +6. Tom rings up 35 points. Aces and Queens take the card game. Doc continues his Florida swing leaving his bingo team shorthanded. He did get a round in with Jeff's brother Mutt. A one-on-one battle between Raymond and Leroy was still raging as this edition went to press. Raymond says "one more?" Personal note to Butch from Leroy Hey Buddy, sorry you had to leave early Tuesday because we were the big winners. Also sorry to say that I accepted your $14 dollar winnings, but I seem to have misplaced it. Last I remember, Scott may have had it. No worries, we will not give up the search!
