 Welcome Back Sunshine, and the Jackson Police! For the first time in many a day, the golf course was engulfed in bright sunlight accompanied by very light wind. As predicted in this column just recently, the better weather led to better play, ending our streak of minus scoring. All 3 teams played both sides in plus fashion. Full disclosure, we played the front 9 twice as the back 9 was being aerated. Leroy led the onslaught, taking Medalist at +7,  one better than Doc, 2 better than Bob. Doc does tie Raymond for most points with 30. Mikey quietly takes his 3rd CTP of the season resulting in teams 2 and 3 dividing up Scott, Jeff, and Raymond's entry fee.  If you are a baseball fan, you know April 15 is celebrated as Jackie Robinson Day across Major League Baseball. All teams pay tribute to the player who made his debut on April 15, 1947. But did you know what other famous event took place on April 15? April 15, 1912 was the day the unsinkable Titanic did indeed sink. I find this interesting only because our golf scores continued to sink today to the tune of -11 points. We can only hope that higher temperatures will bring with it higher point totals and end this disturbing trend of 7 straight rounds of minus golf . Wait a minute, what's this I see. A closer look at the numbers reveals another oddity. The group number of -11 is correct. The oddity is that only 3 of the 14 players today saw their number go down. These 3 players shot identical -5's, bringing down the other 11 players. Only Bud's Boys policy of not making fun of bad play prevents me from naming names. Sorry. Guess Who Bought A Round of Drinks? Never underestimate the power of suggestion. A little off-hand comment in yesterday's blog brought out the true philanthropic nature of Big Dean after Thursday's round. The above picture captures Dean delivering a bucket of refreshment for all to share. When asked about this sudden benevolent gesture, Dean responded: "Don't know what the big deal is. I was just waiting for it to be my turn to buy. I thought I was good till 2023. But don't expect it again until then." Dean then told the waitress thanks for the service, and charge it to his account, Allen Hill. On the Course It was indeed a very sunny beautiful day for golf, although course still incredibly wet. Nice enough for Mikey to hunt golf balls on 5. Fourteen teed off, representing 4 teams.  Weds Results Plus March Review At 8:41 sharp this morning, (Aside: I have heard this term my whole life and now I wonder. Whether it is 8:41 sharp or 8:41 dull, is it not still 8:41? Maybe a more seasoned mind than me could explain this old saying.) a series of texts started. Doc inquired if anyone was playing, despite the forecast of severe storms. Jeff responded that no, he would not play, but good luck and say hi to Dorothy and Toto. I thought that rather clever and very funny. I tried to add to the conversation by sending my regrets and asked Doc to send me anything he saw on the course that he found interesting. Such as, Doc insists the weather will hold off; he's playing. Raymond says he is in. So, Jeff then sends me this, saying that's Mikey in the middle. I respond that it must be Raymond and Doc completing today's players likely to show up. As I should know by now, never underestimate the resolve of Bud's Boys.  Playing in the Mud, Masters results Ten Bud's Boys put on their waders and headed out to a sloppy Kimbeland track for a day on the course. Yes, readers, it has been a while since our last post. Mother Nature has not been kind this April, feeding us a steady diet of strong winds and ample precipitation. I truly believe they opened the course for play today only because they felt sorry for us, as bad weather is forecast again for tomorrow.    John, next time keep it on the cart path. Scoring was also sloppy, only 2 players finished on the plus side. Glen is Medalist at +6 (also most points 34) and Mikey +3. Unfortunately, Glen didn't get much help from teammates Gary and Roger. Gary had this to say: "Yes, we heard that many times during the round, but he took it like a trooper." The threesome did hold on to the front, breaking even on the day. Mikey's +3 and Raymond's 3rd CTP in his last 4 rounds gives their team the other 3 cuts of the prize money. That was Ra...

 Yes, it was baseball's opening day. Yes, it was the first round of the Masters. However, there was much more anticipation here at Kimbeland CC. Could Raymond do the unthinkable, nearly impossible task of winning the CTP for a third straight round? The Coveted "Floyd"? After struggling through an anxiety filled sleepless night, Raymond new he would have a target on his back as he teed off. Literally. The round started out in very cool temperatures, and though it warmed some, the wind picked up considerably during the round causing havoc with today's scoring. Only 3 of the 18 participants would see their number go up in these tough conditions, led by our Medalist Jeff with +4. Roger at +3, and Gary +2 completed the very short list. The ever-optimistic Norm showed up in shorts and sandals. The pressure proved too much for Raymond, missing the green on 18, eliminating him from competition. At least it was over quickly, he didn't have to sit and watch everyone else...

Sunny and 70 (Where is Everyone?)   A Surprisingly low number of 7 players teed off, others scared off by early morning weather I suppose. Notice all the sunlight in the pictures as the day turned out quite warm and pleasant. On the course, Randy scores most points with 35 and earns Medalist Honors with +5, one ahead of the +4s of Bob and Scott. Randy, Bob, and Roger sweep FBT and Raymond stuffs his tee shot on 18 to a couple of feet to cut his teams losses. This is Raymond's 5th CTP, equal to Glen for the season lead. This was also his 2nd in a row, one away from you know what.
