 Sunday September 6, 2026

Tough, tough, week in many, many ways. As always, I look forward to tomorrow being a better day.

Kind of look forward to winter golf.

Let's get to the golf.

Tuesday September 1

We start the new month with a BB's first (at least in my memory), all three teammates double jump with a pair of +8's and a +6!

Rick puts it all together with an under-par round of 39 points to get his +8. Westy joins him at +8, and Bill F adds a +6 to blow away the field by 21 points, sweeping the FBT.

Brian chalks up his first CTP and Ron skins the field for today's Random Skin.

Wednesday September 2

Today's field lessened by a SEMO Sr. event in Dexter and the continuing sweltering heat. However, 12 BB's finished the round on Card Game Wednesday.

Everybody pitched in enough for each team to get a cut of today's action. Three teams split the FBT while the fourth team, Keith, Clint, and Bill, won the two side bets. For the second straight day, we had a first time CTP winner. Keith had the closest attempt on #18 to claim his first, helping win the Card Game as well. Bill H kept the team in snacks while Clint kept a nice clean scorecard for their contributions.

Bill F was the Medalist with a +4.

Thursday September 3

Butch stands (or sits) tall on Medalist Thursday with a double jump +7 giving him, Clint, and Tom 3 events.

A strong Back 9 by Scott, Don, and Bill H gives them that cut of the pot.

Bill F takes the CTP.

Here are some Memories from the archives.

Way Back Machine June 30, 2022

The last day of June brought out 15 of Bud's willing and able Boys. Two of today's players announced yesterday they would not play but reconsidered. Jeff because he was thrown out of the house. Dean couldn't remember why he wasn't coming today, but assured me that after today's -6, the reason is now clear.

Thurs Results

Mikey Medalist at +7. Honorable mention to Founding Fathers Andy and Norm at +6, and Allen +5. Special mention to Rodney's +4, despite playing last 14 holes with one less club than what he started with. Rest of the story revealed upon request. His team did win Back 9.

Andy showed some of the old magic with a solid day of ball striking, resulting in a game high even-par 36 points. His performance wins Front and Total for his team.

Bob chalks up his 4th CTP, his reaction to his putt gives away the result.

Other Highlights

Andy shoots 1 under on front, Mikey and Glen even par.
Andy, Randy, and Dennis M have no circles on their card, that doesn't have a number inside.

Almost Highlights

Rodney pars first 8 holes on back, before doubling 18.
Bob scores 13 points on his first 6 holes, 1 on next 3.
Leroy hits the ball very well today but does not score well. Call Brosey for explanation.

Fun With Numbers

Guess which hole was the easiest on the day, surrendering an even par 30 points?
Considering pin placements and such, can you guess the hardest, yielding only16?
Winning guess receives this valuable coupon.

Wow, that was fast, Allen has already claimed the prize.
Number 1 was the easiest, 5 more than runners up 11 and 18.
Number 12 was most difficult, one less than #9.

Heads Up for Next Wednesday

Raymond, Glen, Leroy, Gary, Bob, Clint, Randy, Bill, and a handful of our subs, will be in Dexter next Wednesday, representing BB's in SEMO Senior action. If the rest of you would like to enjoy a quiet, peaceful round of golf, make plans to play Wednesday. Scott has assured me he has a special game cooked up for those who show up.

Missing Person Post

 Scoring Rampage II

Following on the heels of Friday's scoring outburst, the new week starts with another score fest. The 17 who teed off today combined for a +25. Unfortunately for 4 teams, 18 of those plus points belonged to the first group out. Medalist Marty led team at +7, runner-up Allen +6, Denny B +4, and Andy's modest +1 rounded out their scoring. This handily sweeps the FBT making them the big winners on the day.

Clint repeats CTP

Clint followed his Friday CTP with another today. Yes, observant reader, this gives him the rare opportunity to achieve the elusive 'Floyd' on Wednesday. For anyone new to the blog, a 'Floyd' is 3 CTP's in a row, something accomplished only once before (Coincidentally, it was by Floyd). We wish Clint good luck on his quest tomorrow. Wait, we have been informed that Clint has already announced he will not be playing Wednesday as he has an engagement that he cannot break free from. Seems Clint spends Wednesdays instructing Yoga at the Sunshine Home for Troubled Retired Female Wrestlers.

Bud's Boys News

Doc flys his Bud's Boys colors at Cardinal game Sunday. Not surprisingly, this spurs Cards to break losing streak.

Dexter SEMO Seniors

Congrats to Bud's Boys Raymond (2nd, $55), Bob and Gary (5th, $25), Leroy (6th, $15), and part-timer Denny B snagged a 3rd ($45). Way to represent the group fellows!

Doc's Birthday Bash, Weds Results, Tee Times and More!

Too many tournaments lately (and more to come) have limited my blogging time recently, so we will get to last week's results right after we look ahead to tee times for the upcoming week.

Tee Times

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday    10:06

Friday   9:02

Be advised Tuesday and Wednesday predicted extremely hot! Plan accordingly.

Tuesday looks to be packed, so be prepared for everything that goes with that.
Wednesday we will have 8 or 9 regulars and a few of our part-timers playing SEMO Seniors at Jaycee so this would be a better option if you like a smaller group.
Thursday and Friday look like great weather days.

Wednesday Birdie Fest

For a second day in a row, 21 players lined up to fill in the 6 team positions. Amazingly, 16 of the 21 contributed at least 1 birdie to an impressive group total of 31. Raymond was the most successful bird hunter, starting his day with birds on 1,2, and 3, finishing with an individual high of 4.
Westy's Medalist Honors +6 was to no avail as Roger, Mikey, and KeyZ took back 9 with a plus 8 1/2. Doc 9 (+5), Allen (+5), Josh (+4) and Glen (CTP) took the rest.

Doc's Birthday (Thursday Results)

Birthday cake and a bucket of beer, a favorite combo for Bud's Boys, were served post round Thursday. Cash prizes hidden under plates added to the festive atmosphere.

Of course, when Dean was informed of the prize, he turned it over to look. Fortunately, more cake was available, so he didn't have to eat off the floor. Dean proudly bragged that he finished his 2nd piece before he turned the plate over. Never too old to learn.

On the Course

There were extra CTP chances for 4 and 8 in addition to your choice of a new car or $100 for a hole in one on 18, provided by Doc.

Doc (+2) teamed with Scott (Medalist High +5) and Westy (CTP) to win 4 of the 5 events to help recoup some of his party expenses. Jeff's Birdie on 11 gives his team the Rabbit and prevent the Royal Flush for team Doc.

Later, at Doc's private invitation only party, his birthday gift was presented by none other than Billie Jo. Hope you like your new putter, Doc!

Bud's Boys Tourney News

As mentioned above, several BB's will be at SEMO Seniors Weds. We will post results later this week. This past week saw BOB and GLEN win the Cape Jaycee 2-man Senior Scramble. Tom and Clint take 2nd. Saturday's Kimbeland Men's Association 6-6-6 tourney saw Clint team with Gerald to T1 in B flight. Tom and Randy T2 in championship flight.
