 2026 Champion Golfer of the Year

That will be the latest engraving on the CGOTY trophy this year. Tom becomes the fifth Bud's Boy to hoist the big prize. Here are some details. 

Westy was 4 strokes off the pace when he started his second round. An early double bogey did not break his spirit, indeed it seemed to wake him up to the task before him. He recovered to finish the Front 9 with a respectable +1.5. Steady play on the Back 9 resulted in a +2.5 score for a Total of +4 on the day, tied with Brian for the top Thursday score. Added to his +1 first round score, Westy's +5 was the score to beat.

As to the Day 1 leaders, a double on the first hole portended Glen's round, while Roger and Keith knew early that they could not attain the high standards they set on Wednesday. Tom played another strong round, but the putter let him down enough to close with a 2nd place tie total score of +3, two made putts shy of first place.

Clint's +3 second round vaulted him up from a day 1 tie for 6th to tie Tom for second place.

Scott, the 2022 Champion, carded a +2 to tie Keith for 4th place.

Strong 2nd round scores vaulted Brian (+4) from 12th to seventh, and Jeff's 11 stroke improvement moved him all the way from last to all the way to 2nd last.

Here are the final results of all winners and payouts of the 2 days. Kudos to Scott for the effort to make the tournament an event of many opportunities to win events both days in addition to the first-place trophy.

Tuesday 9/22

Tournament warmup for 14 BB's. Marty's +7 performance included a birdie on #17, good for today's Random Skin and his team took Back 9 with a +10.

Keith's +6 lifted his team to victories on the Front and the Total.

Don picks up his 7th CTP.

Wednesday 9/23

Our regular Card Game Wednesday had plenty of highlights.

Tom scored a 3-under par 39 points. Brandon and Roger both double jumped with +6's, allowing their team to win Back 9 and Total.

Big winners were, however, Keith, Doc, Clint, and Wayne. They win the Front 9 by a mere half point, Doc wins his 2nd CTP of the year, and their Club Flush cannot be beat in the Card Game.

Thursday 9/24 

Tom tallies his 10th CTP, and Clint's +5 earns his team a Front 9 win.

Brian, however, is the star of Medalist Thursday with a best score +6 for Medalist and victories on the Back 9 and Total.

Bud's Boys believe it or not moment

Looking up from the fairway on hole #11, we could see an object several yards in front of the green.

It is a golf bag, lost unaware by the group up on the putting green. Imagine Roger's surprise when he walked back to the cart to place his putter in his bag! They retraced their steps and retrieved the missing golf equipment storage container. 

Close examination reveals the 2 occupants to be Keith and Roger. Here is the somewhat humorous conclusion to the episode. While observing the bag retrieval, Westy sincerely remarks, "I can't believe they (Roger and Keith) couldn't HEAR the bag fall off."

 

Friday 9/25

Dolly Parton Day had only 9 BB's show up for work, tournament fatigue I suppose.

A near Royal Flush as Brian's second consecutive double jump (+8) leads to payouts on 4 of the 5 Friday events.

His 3rd CTP of September and razor thin wins by a half point on both the Front and Back over Wayne, Dave, and Leroy (that had to hurt) make for a nice Friday pay day. At least those 3 caught the Rabbit.
