Bud's Boys Mid July Update

Rain Rain Rain

You never know what might wash up.

We were not able to finish Wednesday and Thursday due to lightning in the area and Friday was a washout well before our scheduled tee times.

That left only Tuesday for a completed round. Just six birdies on the day with only Clint's birdie on #8 being a scratch off in the Bingo game.

Dave was Medalist with a solid +5, unfortunately no reward for the fine performance.

Scores definitely on the low side as Allen, Roger, and Dean win the Back 9 with a -2.

Tom, Randy, Glen, and Jeff do shoot a +2.5 on the Front 9 for a winner and surprisingly take the Total with a -2. Tom adds the CTP to give the team 3 of the 5 events.

Ron's birdie on #16 earns the Random Skin for his group.

Birdie Bingo Update

As stated above, Clint's birdie on #8 for the Zeroes was the only change from last week's scoreboard. Several birdies were carded on Wednesday and Thursday (including 2 of the remaining 4 for the Deuces) only to be thrown out when the rounds were not completed.

That's all for this week, so here are some flashbacks to June of 2022, starting with a photo of Mikey doing his favorite activity, waiting on the group ahead.

Friday June 3, 2022

Friday June 3rd may have been the most pleasant day weatherwise this year. The 9:00 start surely contributed to a day all agreed that we appreciated being outside and playing golf. We would like to congratulate the first and second place teams for their great play and strong performances. Individually, Raymond is Medalist (+6) and top point man (34), Bob earns CTP, and Josh gets a nod for a 19-point front 9, securing the Friday rabbit.

Totally Unrelated to Golf Story

After the round while we were sharing our stories of the day, Leroy started his with the following. "Back when we were running track...........". Honestly, I don't even remember the story, but was fascinated that Leroy ran track. I made it my mission to dig up some evidence of his participation. I believe I found the only remaining pictures of his last track meet.

Okay, that is not Leroy, this is a picture of the winners.

Here is a picture of Leroy, apparently several, several minutes later.

If you notice the policemen in the background, it seems they sent out a search party to find him.

Other Bud's Boys news has Allen inquiring about taking over any disciplinary action needed, as he has obviously been working out.

 Tuesday Results June 7, 2022

Clint takes MVP honors today as he nearly completes the Bud's Boys Triple Crown. His +5 wins Medalist honors, earns his 3rd CTP, but his 31 points are bested by Doc's 33, the only 2 to top 30. Today was the rare day when the FBT was split among 3 different teams. Tom bags 2 consecutive birds on 15 and 16.

Rick easily handles his 1st swing of the day.

Bud's Boys Notes

Clint, Bob, Glen, Randy, Raymond, Leroy, Bill, and Gary will represent Bud's Boys at Fox Haven in Sikeston Weds and Thurs in Semo Senior action. Good Luck to all.

Movie Time

Today's movie of the week is 'Cool Hand Luke'. Paul Newman at his best.

Remember the scene when Lucille washes her car in front of the convicts? A little snippet to jug the memory.

Which brings us to our movie moment.

Tom tees off on the par 4 12th from the blue tees. I am walking so I stand well off to the side and can't really see his ball as it clears the hill. Raymond and I go to the whites to tee up. I hit down LEFT side. Raymond hooks one a little FURTHER LEFT.  Since I am walking, they ride up the hill well ahead of me. As I reach the top of the hill, I notice they are looking RIGHT of the cart path and all the way down to old 12 white tee box. Must be looking for Tom's ball, I thought. After several minutes (10 to 15 according to Clint and Bob who are waiting for us to clear the fairway so that they can hit), and backing up the whole course, Tom informs me we are looking for Raymond's ball. Oops. I tell them he is also on the LEFT side. Our movie moment.

Apologies to the course for the hold up.
