Sunday May 3

More about this picture later. Today's edition will cover 3 days of golf along with a review of the month of April and another retro look at 2022.

But first, some news to share.

Rodney is currently in Mercy Hospital, since Tuesday actually. Trying to deal with some heart issues, pneumonia, and low blood pressure. Thoughts and prayers for Rodney and Jan.

Tuesday April 28

Roger single-handedly won the side games with a CTP and the Random Skin with his birdie on #4.

Norris and Wayne win Back 9 and Total. Butch, Bill H, and Ron win the Front #9.

Wednesday April 29

Only 9 players at KCC today as many were at Bent Creek competing in the SEMO Srs tourney.

Congrats to Wayne and Glen, First Place in their flights. KZ earns a third place finish!

On the home course, Floyd's Medalist performance wins 2 events for his team and Charlie wins the CTP.

The Card Game nearly had an historical finish. Only 10 cards were earned by the three teams, a 6-2-2 split. The team with 6 cards went first and turned a King. Team 2 turned both of their cards but were unsuccessful in topping the King.

Ray was in charge of his team's 2 cards and promptly turned an Ace with the first card.

Team #1 turned their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th cards and panic set in when nothing matched. The 5th card was a 4 to go along with the King, a 9, an 8, and a 5. Surely, a team with only 2 cards couldn't win!

The 6th card didn't match either, but it was an Ace, giving team #1 an Ace-King. Ray now could only win with another Ace, but it was not meant to be. It was a 4, and a gasp of relief escaped from the Team 1 members.

 Thursday April 30

The last day in April brought out 15 players and 3 brand new pair of golf shoes.

Unusual for this group in that some of our guys are still wearing shoes from the 80's.

Butch says he nearly wore his new pair today also but was unable to get the box open.

He was still able to shoot a +6 in his old shoes to lead his team to a plus 9 on the Back and a +10 Total to win those events.

Charlie topped all, however, with a double-jump +9 to aid his team in winning the Front 9.

Scott wins the CTP.

April Review

We were able to tee it up 17 times in April, the most for this month since I started keeping track.
Thirty-two different BB's managed at least one appearance and a total of 261 rounds were scored, an average of about 15 per day.

Bill F showed for 16 of those rounds, Glen for 15, and Roger for 14 to be our most frequent flyers.

Norris had the best 1-day score with a +10. Charlie and Glen each had a +9.

Glen had the highest 1-day point total with 37.

Glen led CTP total with 4. Tom, Scott, and Charlie each had a couple.

Moneywise, Glen and Roger made out better than Bonnie and Clyde with Glen's $135 (net $60) and Roger's $118 (net $48). Bill H. was like a silent partner with his $83 (net $23) take for third best.

The longest current win streak is Rick with 7 straight following a 6-0 April.

Teamwise, the best Front 9 score was a +6, The Back a +9, and a Total of +10.

Futility wise, we had a -11 Front, a -15 Back, and a -17 Total. You know who you are.

Flashback to the Year 2022!

April 27, 2022

This was a very tough day. Doc loses long time dear friend Ron and Mark Roger is awaiting bypass surgery as I compose this edition. As Doc said this morning, every day is a blessing and let's appreciate those around us. Doc and Roger are in our thoughts today. I hope the following gives you a few minutes away from the more serious and important.

Bud's Boys, The Musical

Today's round started quite differently than usual, as Bob and Allen sang a little duet on the first tee. Now I myself didn't think it was half bad all things considered. However, when I tried to post it, I received a stern warning from Google that they have a minimum standard, and they proceeded in deleting it. Nonetheless, we have our theme for the day, Bud's Boys the musical. We will dedicate songs throughout the post. Let's get started.

Great news to have Rodney come out to play 9 holes, his first time playing with us since Feb 21. Playing partner Mikey thought he did very well, considering the long lay-off. First dedication to Rodney.

From 1976, John Sebastian with "Welcome Back", a TV theme song.

One line in the song, "We tease him a lot, because we got him on the spot, welcome back". Here's to many upcoming chances to tease Rodney.

Fourteen players in the game for 5-dollar Thursday (Course closed Friday).

Next song is dedicated to the whole group.

From 1990, Friends in Low Places, Garth Brooks. No explanation necessary.

This was a rare day in that all 4 teams won at least one event. Josh's 3 birdies on the front (Rabbit) and Jeff's CTP gave their team 2 of the 5.

Andy's team takes front with +8. Next dedication is a little embarrassing. We have all misunderstood lyrics and would sing our own words only to discover the real lyrics years later. Next dedication from 1978, the Commodores "Three times a Lady".

I thought they were saying, "Once, Twice, Three Putts for Andy". My bad.

Leroy's team takes Total with the help of his birdie on 10. To Leroy, all the way back to 1965. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, "A Taste of Honey", Wild Turkey Honey that is.

Glen's amazing 21 points (4 birdies) on back 9 gives his team the last piece of the pot. He takes Medalist (+5) and points (37). Kudos to Butch, Jeff, Scott at +4. To Glen from 1964, Roger Miller, "Chug-a-Lug"

Special Dedication

Sunday May 1 will be our anniversary. Forty years ago, May 1, 1982, was on a Saturday.

Now that I think about it, we have been pretty much "together" since the day we met in the summer of 76.

I absolutely know what most of you are thinking. How in the world did he end up with her!
You have to remember the times. I did it the old-fashioned way, the way we did things in "our time".

I had a cool car.

This last dedication goes to my sweetie of 40 plus years. The Temptations, from 1965, "My Girl"
