 Bud's Boys Mid-Week Update


The big question on Wednesday Card Game was, "Can anyone slay the Dragon?"

That, of course, meant stopping Mr. March from adding to his win streak. Butch won again on Tuesday (full story later) setting up today's action. Whoever had thoughts of accomplishing this feat knew they must bring something special to the course on this fabulous sunny day, a very big sword for a very large dragon.

And so it was, on Wednesday March 25, that the Man in Yellow struck a mighty blow on Hole #8.


Leroy sinks his 6th career hole-in-one for a 5-point 3-card parlay to add to his team total.

His plus 8 score, along with plus scores from all 3 teammates swept the FBT, leaving Butch with only 2 more chances to win.

Clint earned his first CTP of the season to close that account, leaving only the Card Game to extend his undefeated month of March.

Things looked bad for Butch when Leroy turned a Heart Flush. Butch, however, never gives up, no matter how dire the circumstances. 

Sure enough, Charlie turns a Club Flush for team Butch on his last card! His King high tops Leroy's ten high and it seems Butch has escaped again.

Not so fast, LeRoy has 3 cards left, a chance to draw an Ace of Hearts, however unlikely.

He turns a small diamond and then a black 4. One card left.

It is not an Ace of Hearts but a red 4. Groans are heard.

But wait, those 2 fours, added to a red 4 and 2 sixes already turned gives Leroy the winning hand with a Full House. The streak is over, the dragon has been slayed by the Man in Yellow.





Tuesday

Butch wins Medalist honors with a double jump +8 to run his win streak to 10, but Brandon is the star of the day with an eagle on #2. A huge drive left him a wedge to the hole and he jars that for a rare 2 on a tough hole.

To cap off his special day, Hole number 2 was the first card selected for Random Skins.

Glen takes the season lead in CTP's with his 5th.

 Champion Golfer of the Year 2025 Tournament was finished in the two scheduled day under threatening conditions. Round 1 had to be completed before the start of round 2 as 5 golfers needed to finish hole 18. All worked out well although we lost a few competitors to the 'cart path only' rule. Tom jumped out to the first day lead with a 40-point performance to place him at the top with +5, one shot ahead of Rodney. Here is the top 9 going into day 2. Day 2 scoring improved dramatically on Wednesday. The top 9 players on Tuesday combined for a total of +14. Wednesday's top 9 scored +27, led by Brandon and Keith with +6's and Gary with +5.  Brandon's score, added to day 1 was enough to claim the trophy by 1 shot over Gary and 2 in front of Keith. Bud's Boys Look Back On 2024 January through June Remember Lunch Every Thursday until Golf Returns! Player of the Year Awarded! To say KZ was surprised is an understatement! 2023 POY Raymond makes the presentation. Roger wins his second straight CTP but fails to join Butch and Floyd on Wednesday the 3rd. Shelly notches her 3rd career hole-in-one on Jan 11. We had 19-day layoff from the 11th to the 30th, eating was all we had to do. February Rodney wins his first CTP of the season with this gem on #18.
