Sunday March 15

 Bud's Boys Mid March Update

As I am typing this, the windows are shaking with the impact of the 30mph plus wind gusts. I understand Raymond is giving it a go at Kimbeland this morning. Waiting to hear his report.

Monday looks frigid and St Pat's looks very iffy. Hate to miss 🍀Day. Maybe weather luck will change by then.

Five rounds started this week, four were played to completion. The wrap-ups of those four plus another entry from the archives.

Monday March 9

A half-dozen BB's teed off on Monday.

Weather was a bit tougher than expected.

Raymond's 4th CTP prevents Butch, Doc, and Roger from taking all 5 events.

Tuesday March 10

A rough day for scoring on Tuesday as minus 28 was the end result of the 14 BB's signed in.

Keith was immune to whatever was affecting the rest of the group. His +4 is the only score to move his handicap upward. His score plus even rounds by Jeff and Wayne give the trio an FBT sweep by eleven strokes. Wayne's birdie on 17 wins the Random Skin.

For the second straight day, a CTP win from a different team halts the Royal Flush attempt, Norris doing the honors today.

Thursday March 12

Another below average scoring day as Glen earns top honors on Medalist Day. His +5 leads team to FBT sweep and 4 of today's 5 contests.

Something chewed a hole in Bill's cover.

Jeff is today's spoiler as for the 3rd consecutive day, the CTP winner stops the RF.

Friday March 13

Appropriately, thirteen players showed up on Friday the 13th. It was only unlucky for Jeff, Roger, and Ray as they were the only team out of 4 who didn't win a single event.

Scott was the day's Medalist (+4) and Bill H gets his 2nd CTP.

Fun with Numbers

Butch has the longest win streak going with seven.

His last 4 are interesting. His scores of -2, -3, E, and -6! earned him payouts of $10, $8, $4, and $10.
He truly must be a great teammate as their games seem to rise in his presence.

January 27th, 2022, was a cold, cold, day. It took a daring attitude to show up on this day, which was my inspiration for the Mission Impossible theme.

January 27, 2022

How many of you still remember Mission Impossible from the 60's?

After listening to the secret message,

Mr. Phelps would pull out a file full of pictures and choose the best agents for the mission. Fast forward to Jan 27, 2022. Now imagine Bud's Boys Mission Leader Leroy receiving this message: "Mr. Leroy, your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to find 4 rugged agents to represent Bud's Boys at Kimbeland today. The conditions are rough, cold and windy and no sun. Our reputation is at stake. As always, should you accept, we will disavow any knowledge of your actions. If you decide not to accept, you are fired." Leroy retires to his den, pulls out his file of agents (and a beer), ready to make his selections.

We join Leroy's thoughts as he thumbs through the pictures. "Tom A, yes, he is a known hunter and could probably get rid of a body if things go bad. Doc and Andy, no, if captured I am sure they would talk. Scott, yes, he wouldn't say sh** if he stepped in it. Glen, yes, they call him Ice so he can handle the cold. I need one more. How about Allen? No, if pressured he would sing, too risky. How about Randy or Floyd? No, they both still owe me a beer. Can't afford to lose them. How about Mikey? Yes, he will play through anything. I have my team." There you have it. Mikey, Tom A, Glen, and Scott hit the course and survived. Well done, men.

Results

Tom and Mikey took on Glen and Scott and the match ended a draw with both teams ending at even. Mikey wins CTP to give him and Tom the 1-dollar prize. Scott medalist at +6

January 31, 2022

Roger Starts the Round

Bud's Boys closed out the month of January with 14 players punching their timecard, ready to go to work. No Monday blahs today as this group carded a plus 25 on the day. All 4 teams finished their round in the plus column. Scott, Gary, Bob, and Randy each had 3 birdies. Tom had a bogey-free round for a 1 under par performance. Tom's 37 points were tops, one more than Randy. Leroy takes Medalist with a +8, amazing in that he hadn't played in 18 days. (Editor's note: Can't wait to see how he follows it up tomorrow.) Honorable mention to Bob and Tom +7, Scott +6, and Allen +5. Glen and Mikey let Leroy and Tom carry them to a fairly easy sweep of the front back and total. With the last shot of the day, Randy wins his first CTP of the year to get his team's money back. I have it on good authority he would have hit his ball in the water had he known who had the closest up till then. Sorry Shelly!

Doc and Allen double birdie on 15

Ask Bud's Boys

Let's let our readers think about that before we answer later.

Medical Update

Many of you have wondered about the status of Westy since we haven't seen him yet this year. Happy to say he is on the mend after having carpel tunnel surgery.

No golf for about 30 days and the Doc says if he wants to do anything else he better do it left-handed. You know, like ping pong.

Fashion Update

Josh wants to know when Andy became a Michael Jordan fan.

Bud's Boys Apparel

Well, it was inevitable. With the soaring popularity of Bud's Boys, it was only a matter of time before some big company wanted us to wear their product. Adidas has started a line of Bud's Boys Golf.

Also available are two other interesting choices. One of our trademark sayings:

And my personal favorite since I hear it every time I start to tell my wife about today's round.

The Adidas clothes are free for all Bud's Boys members. You just have to pay a nominal shipping and handling fee. Hope to see you all decked out soon!

Rules answer

Good Gracious, I can already hear some of you. "How can you have Ask Bud's Boys without Billie Jo?"  Fine, maybe this will hold you for now.

Results and Numbers

January 2022 Review

This is the scene at Kimbeland Country Club today as reported by BB photographer Raymond. Is there hope for golf later this week? Luckily Kimbeland wasn't hit as hard as Doc's place as he received 2 feet of snow. Thanks for the photo, Doc.

Anyway, fingers crossed for a fast melt and golf (soggy style) later this week.

With no golf to report, I looked back at January's results and came up with this summary. We managed 10 days of golf (11 last Jan) for the month, 21 of our group playing 104 rounds. Scott and Glen led with 9 rounds, 8 by Tom, Randy and Mikey, Roger 7, Doc, Floyd, Gary 6, Raymond, Shelly and Andy 5.  Money wise (AND THIS IS NOT WHAT WE ARE PLAYING FOR), winners and losers as follows. In the plus column:

Allen 12 Floyd  8 Tom 7  Rodney 7  Raymond 6  Rick 5  Roger 5  Glen 4  Leroy 3 Gary 2

In the not fortunate enough to win minus column (We should not refer to them as losers): Doc 11, Scott 10, Bob, Butch, Andy 8 Randy 7, Brandon 4, Shelly, Mikey 2, John, Josh 1.

Remember, these numbers are not to be used for gloating, bragging, crowing, or for making fun of. We do enough of that already. These are only to be used as suggestions for " Who can I buy a drink for, who could really use one? Who DESERVES one?  Thank you for your consideration.

As for CTP competition, Floyd leads with his 3 in a row. Raymond 2, Tom, Randy, Allen, Mikey, and Roger 1. Editor's note: You can't win if you don't play.

Florida news

To help warm our hearts and feelings, 2 reports from our southern correspondents. From Bob "The Rammer" Ramsey is this shot of an unwanted 5th player at his course.

His group has named this intruder (and I am not making this up) Leroy. Probably because, like with our Leroy, people politely and respectfully move out of his way as he approaches. Thanks for the update, Bob. From Jeff is another picture of his favorite Florida hobby.

Jeff really needs to get back North where people still wear clothes.

Ask Bud's Boys

Hey guys, Billie Jo again. I really need your help. I have been called a cheater! Let me explain. I hit a wayward drive on a par 5 late in a close match. The ball bounded toward the driving range. There just happened to be a man lying on the ground with a tee in his mouth. Remarkably, my ball bounced right on top of the tee! I played the ball as it lied, took advantage by hitting my Ping driver.

Naturally, I birdied the hole. My competition accused me of cheating by using a tee. I claim I played it as it lay. Please help, being called a cheater really hurts my feelings.

Well, our dear Billie Jo, we are not going to stand for this. Of course, you didn't do anything wrong. The thought of you being upset calls for action. Please give us the address of your competitor. We are sending Bud's Boys rules committee to enlighten this weasel you played with.

 Bud's Boys Rules Committee

A couple of things that passed through the office this week.

Couldn't help laughing at this one.

No, it didn't make me think of anyone. And finally, what your clubs say about you.

Here are current numbers, and no, they are not negotiable due to lay-off.
