 Bud's Boys Early Year Review

In today's issue we will find the box scores from Thursday and Friday play along with a complete look at our first two months of golf. But first, a few ideas I would like to propose for the upcoming spring and summer months.

Bud's Boys Special Events

I realize our regular weekly play is all some of you are looking for and that's fine. We will continue to roll along as always, God willing, and we have that to look forward to each week.

However, a few extras along the way can be beneficial to group morale and spirit. At least that's what I believe has happened in the past when we have tried them. Anyway, here are some things on my mind.

I am thinking of a 2-day Masters event on the Thursday and Friday of Masters week (April 9-10). Another 'Major Tournament', if you will, with slight adjustments to our regular rules.

A Birdie Bingo (or some variation) starting May 1.

A Match Play Tourney June or July.

A once-a-month BB's Saturday event similar to Men's Assoc. tournaments such as pressure ball, scramble, shamble or best ball.

Obviously, any participation in the extra events is voluntary and the weekend idea would require a sign up in advance.

I would encourage any feedback or other suggestions.

Thursday Feb 26

Deano makes his 2026 debut after his lengthy rehab assignment. Rumors of his demise were clearly exaggerated as he scores a +7 on Medalist Day, to tie teammate Ray for honors.

Tom shoots an even par 36 points and wins his first CTP of the season.

The teams of those mentioned above tied the Back 9 with a season best +8.5.

Dean and Doc borrowed Allen's cart for the day, but forgot to get their 'stuff' out.

Friday Feb 27

Ray makes it back-to-back Medals with +4. His team takes Back 9 and Total.

Wayne's birdie on #11 snares the Rabbit while Butch takes CTP.

Jan-Feb Review

The good news is that we played 17 times in the first two months of 2026 compared with only 12 in 2025. The bad news is that it will be hard to keep up with last March when we played 18 times in the 20 days available. Could be tough to replicate.

Twenty-five different BB's joined in for a total of 197 rounds in the 17 days played, about 12 a round average. Scott played all 17 rounds with Wayne close behind with 15.

Season Leaders

Randy leads CTP chase with 4, Raymond and Wayne have 3. Glen, Scott, and Butch close behind with 2.

Ray and Clint have 3 Medals for the early lead. Scott, Jeff, Wayne, and Glen one back with 2 each.

I will use the old fashioned money counting system to rank the money winners. This means pure profit.

Doc has scored big, riding a 10-game win streak, most with large return.
He is up $59, far ahead of Butch ($20), Scott ($14), Wayne ($12), and Charlie ($11).

Highs and Lows

Raymond has the best one day score of +9. Several players have reached +7, one shy of a double jump.

Raymond teamed up with Charlie and Wayne to post the highest Front 9 score (+9.5), Total score (+15), and largest 1-day payout of $23 per player.

Two teams posted a +8.5 (on the same day) for best Back 9 score.

Raymond proves that the golf gods exist by also being part of the worst 18-hole team score of -19, along with Bill H and Allen.

The -17 on the Front 9 by Randy, Brandon, Doc, and Jeff sets the bar extremely high for futility.
