Bud's Boys Winter Blues Edition
Trying to see if anyone wants to go to the clubhouse tomorrow (Wednesday) at around 11. See if we can get any info on possible return to course and have some lunch. Just a suggestion.
Olive Garden
We had a good turnout at the Olive Garden last week. Kudos to Doc for making the arrangements for a nice couple of hours to eat and visit.
Butch steals the show with a well thought out prayer before the meal. Doc has the video if you would like to view it.

We will go back To January of 2022 for three posts from 4 years ago.
January 11, 2022
The final total of 12 participants included 3 players making their first appearance of the new year. Cool temps, more wind than yesterday, and signs of rust combined to hold the group score at a minus 15 for the day. These conditions did not hold down our medalist Rodney at +6 nor runners up Mikey and Rick at +5. Rick, Glen, and Tom tied for most points with 31. Tom wins the CTP with the very last tee shot of the day on 18.
The team favored to win today prepares to tee off.
They finished second to this bunch
I have to admit that after looking at this picture, I had this crazy feeling that I had seen it before a long time ago but can't figure out what I am thinking. Maybe it will come to me in time. Results and numbers follow.
Oh, yes, now I remember

Weather Report, Rules Quiz, Fashion Corner, Trip back to 1973
If you are watching the PGA tourney playing in Hawaii as I am, you are anxious to get back to swinging the clubs as soon as possible.
Rules Quiz
Try to give your decision before you get to the answer. This comes from GOLF Magazine (I have tried to splice it together).

Look back at 1973
Let's join Mr. Peabody and Sherman in the Way Back Machine to 1973 golf happenings. Jack Nicklaus wins 7 tournaments including another Major. Ben Crenshaw wins his very first tournament and Tom Weiskopf wins his only Major, the British Open. The big news, however, is that Yours Truely wins his first golf tournament (okay technically 3rd place). At 17, I didn't even own golf clubs. This did not deter me as I bravely signed up and used course equipment to accomplish this amazing feat. Here is the big story as reported in The Jimplicute, a major newspaper in the 70's.
Kenny and I had to defeat several Cape Central punks who had their own putters to prevail. There was this one older fellow who annoyingly stepped off his distance on each putt. We called him Don Quixote because he had a lot of trouble with the windmill! He finished last.
To retain my amateur status, I declined the 5-dollar 3rd place prize. Who knew that this victory would spur me on to the golf celebrity I now enjoy? Would love to hear any old golf stories (not X-rated) that you may have. Waiting for updates from our Southern correspondents Jeff and Bob on how bad the weather is in Florida.

Thursday lunch at Kimbeland(11:00)
What do you do when you don't want to do what you should do? For me, it is spreading useless information on this blog. So, here goes. Thursday is supposed to be extremely cold with a chance of snow. Why not go to the club, eat, drink, visit, and watch the snow. We can go over new business, old business, or no business. Just a reason to get out. Leave a comment at the end to indicate if you will make it.
Fun with numbers
With January off to a slow start, here is a recap of last year.
Our group played 180 times last year. Our slow months were Feb with only 4 times and Jan with 11. Oddly, our most played months were Nov with 21 and Dec with 18. All months in between were in the 15-17 range. Who were the most frequent participants, who was the iron man of the group? None other than our own Mother Hen, the singing golfer, the birthday boy, Allen "the machine" Hill. For his accomplishment, the Kimbeland Grill has awarded Allen an appetizer BOGOSP (buy one, get one same price). Congrats Allen! Here is the top 10.
1. Allen 144
2. Glen 143
3. Randy 138
4. Roger 118
5. Mikey 107
6. Bob 105
7. Tom A 103
8. Doc 100
9. Rodney 97
10 Leroy 89
Jeff and Andy just missed with 87 and 81.
Friendly Tips
When it's cart path only, please stay on the path
Only give advice when asked, otherwise it could get awkward.
We all miss short putts, don't make it a big deal. You know who you are.

Ooops, didn't want that in
