 Bud's Boys Presidential Edition

Happy Birthday George, hope to see you coming more than going this year.

This edition contains box scores of 4 days of play plus a look back to a landmark event in BB's history at the end of the column.

The week also included the debuts of a couple of our younger still working members as Brandon and Brian swung the clubs with us for the first time.

Monday Feb 16

Wayne co-claims Medalist honors with Rick, has the most points, wins the CTP and nets $1. Here are the results.

Tuesday Feb 17

Tom and Bill H tie for Medalist with +1 scores, which correctly leads you to determine that scoring was not at a premium on a miserable day.

When you are expecting temps in the mid-60's and you end up with wind chill in the 30's, it can be hard to focus.

Wayne focused well enough to win the CTP, his 2nd in a row. He will vie for the coveted Floyd in the next match.

Bill H and Butch sweep the FBT with the help of Allen dropping out at the turn.

These rare conditions led to a new payout in extreme circumstances, that is Bill and Butch were paid what was deemed deserved rather than actual.

Wednesday Feb 18

Butch, one of three members in the 'Floyd Club', prevents a 4th member as he keeps Wayne from joining. It is Butch's first of 2026.

Wayne, however, wins the Card Game with help from Shelly and Doc.

Friday Feb 20

Another tough day to score as none of today's eleven BB's move up, but 5 drop down. Clint is the only player to finish with a positive score. A +2 wins him Medalist Honors, quite an improvement over his -5 on Monday.

Play was so tough that a minus 6 1/2 wins the Front 9 by 3 1/2 strokes.

My foursome stepped to the 9th tee box needing 22 points to reach our quota. Never before have I been on a team where 4 eagles on the last hole would still have left us short of even. We finished -17. Each team member received a straw for their accomplishment.

"Never give up!" and "Finish Strong!" was our battle cry as we improved a whopping 19 points to claim
the Back 9.

Wayne's birdie on #11 snares the Rabbit. Randy wins CTP.

Doc nearly drives the 9th green. Unfortunately, he was on 18 tee box.

Jeff lights up his cigar and promptly jars his putt.

Look Back to January 18, 2022

Although Wayne could not pull it off this week, 4 years ago it did.

Bud's Boys 1/18/2022 Edition

 Floyd Does It Again!!

Hockey has its hat trick, 3 goals in a game. Bowling has a turkey, 3 strikes in a row. Bud's Boys now has the "Floyd". Floyd today snagged his 3rd straight CTP. This has not been done in the recorded history of Bud's Boys. In the years to come, I can hear: He has a chance for a "Floyd" today; Wow, he nearly got a "Floyd"; Do you think he can pull off a "Floyd"? He had to work for this one as there were several quality shots today, but he came through as you can see. (Orange tee, bottom right corner)

The rest of the round had its moments. Glen eagled number 1 and finished with most points (37), Gary Medalist +8, 2 ahead of Roger. Floyd of course, takes the CTP.

Doc, Butch, and Randy celebrate birdie on 10

This is significant in that the other 17 holes they played resulted in last place and the only team not to get some of their money back.

John Makes 2022 Debut

John made his first start of the year with a solid 25 points. The big question with John though, was what he would be wearing. Jeff has made some comments about his attire on the practice range recently,

so, we were glad to see he stepped it today.

He dropped his clothing contract with Callaway and went with a pullover from Walmart, hat from Bucheit's, sunglasses from Winks convenience store and jeans from goodwill. Great to have you back John! By the way, Jeff says he wouldn't wear it but....
