December Update

Still waiting for a complete day of Bud's Boys golf. We have had some partial rounds from those of us who had to get out for a little while.

Since there is no news to pass on, I thought I would step back in time and re-post some of the first blogs I put up four years ago.

Here is my first blog from December1st, 2021

Dec 1, 2021

Thirteen players sat out a 15 minute rain delay to start the month of December.

Some highlights include:

Keith Middleton CTP

Tom Allen top score gross (36 points) and net (plus 6)

Scott Kight 4 birdies

Leroy plus 5 after deciding he wouldn't melt in the rain

Todays results

Tomorrows numbers

Next up is the 3rd blog from December 5, 2021. It includes what would become a recurring character known as Billie Jo.

Dec 5, 2021

Today's post will include Friday wrap up, week in review, and a new feature, "Ask Bud's Boys", where we attempt to share our experience and knowledge with the world to improve the game of golf.

Let's start, however with a picture quiz. see if you can choose the correct caption for this picture.

A. Mikey is thinking of the 50 things he would rather be doing right now.

B. He is thinking which club to hit on this tough par 3 8th hole.

C. This is his favorite most comfortable thinking position.

D. He can't believe Jeff talked him into taking a whiskey shot celebrating a birdie.

Correct answer is " D "  ( I know, I couldn't believe it either!)

Now week in review:

Five days with mostly great weather brought out 27 different golfers for 74 rounds of golf. That's an average of 15 a day for you guys we discourage from keeping score.

Tom Allen was outstanding player this week playing his last 54 holes one under par. Just think how he would play if he owned a driver from this century.

Scotty had to deal out a bunch of cards because of the big turnouts.

Friday is usually "Five Dollar Friday" or "Fun Friday", but it was futile Friday for 3 teams and only a clutch birdie from Bad Bad Leroy Pourney to secure the overtime rabbit prevented Team 2 from sweeping everything.

highlights include an eagle and 22 points on the front for Tom

Mikey medalist with plus 7, Andy and Roger plus 6, Tom 68 best gross, Glen CTP

Winners celebrate. And thank you Leroy for buying everyone a beer except me.

And now to our first ever Ask Bud's Boys

Hello Bud's Boys!  This is Billie Jo from Hooterville and here is my issue. I hit the ball pretty straight but can't hit it as far as my sisters Betty Jo and Bobby Jo. Would you look at my swing and give me any advice?

Thank you, Billie Jo. We watched your swing on video (trouble downloading video, here are 2 stills) and we are going to turn you over to Tom "Westy" Westbrook for this one.

TOM: Billie Jo first let me say you have great form, really, really great form. Here is a tip I have shared with my golf buddies. It has helped them, and I hope it works for you. Take your club back a little farther on the backswing and let it rip. Please let us know if you ever make it to Kimbeland.

That does it for this week, course opens 11:00 Monday, be checked in by 10:00 Tues through Friday.

Here are the new numbers

For some reason that blog had several re-visits. Let's do one more entry. The blogs from Dec 14 and 15.

Dec 14, 2021

This was the scene at Kimbeland CC today as birdies were flying everywhere. A total of 31 birdies were recorded today amongst the 19 participants. The Dream Team of Andy, Rick, Glen and Tom A were responsible for 14 of those. Amazing Tom Allen had 5 on the back, 7 total. This team scored what must be a record 129 points, 9 over their quota. You would think this would be sure victory, but wait, not so fast Dream Team. Under the steady and calming leadership of Captain Leroy Pourney, and the 4 birdies from Jeff "I'll never shank again" Stoll, team Quatro tied the Dreamers on the back and took front and total for the biggest upset since David beat Goliath. The Dreamers did win the rabbit with their slew of birdies.

Bob Templeton's tee shot to 8 inches on 18 takes the CTP for team 3.
We had a 3-way tie for medalist. Bob, Jeff, and Tom A all finished +10. Tom had most points with 40.
When asked what he would do to celebrate, Captain Leroy responded: "Let me first thank my teammates for some great play and following my helpful hints. To answer your question, I am putting a new hose on my C-Pap to celebrate." It doesn't get any better than that.

Tom getting a putting lesson from Mikey pre-round pays off with 7 birds.

" Did you hear the one about ..."

Results and tomorrow's numbers

December 15, 2021

 RODNEY'S TEAM SWEEPS TO VICTORY!

When Scott showed up wearing his Nike cap, it should have warned the competition. Not since Tiger Woods has someone bested the field by 10 strokes. Scott's medalist winning +12 led Rodney's team to a clean sweep. When asked about his day Scott replied: "With the wind as tough as it was today, I just figured these wimps wouldn't be able to handle it, so I just tried to play my game. I was right, of course."

Glen wins CTP to pull within 2 of Doc Milde for yearlong CTP race. Wouldn't be surprised if Mark comes home early from his travels.

Weather does not look good next 2 days so remember you only have 10 Christmas shopping days left. Nine for our older players who are probably already in bed.

Results and new numbers

Hard to believe it has been 4 years since I started the blog. I will probably continue to re-post some of my favorites from the past in the coming winter weeks.

Numbers still haven't changed.
