 Champion Golfer Week

It appears that all it took to finally bring some rain to the area was to schedule our Champion Golfer of the Year tournament. We will see how that turns out, nothing is certain in regard to weather, or golf.

A look at the brief history of our tournament after the results of the past week.

Tuesday 9/16

The lack of pictures is due to Doc being in Arizona most of the week, though he sent this one worth sharing.

On the course, 13 BB's competed on Random Skin Day. Ron won the CTP and was also the day's Medalist with a +4.

All teams finished in the minus column as Glen, Charlie, and Butch win the Total with a Minus 3.

Ray's birdie on #7 wins the Skin.

Wednesday 9/17

Attendance up today with 21 BB's present.

Raymond tallies 33 points, his best since his return, to tie for Medalist honors with Norris at +5.

KZ wins the CTP and also turns an Aces over full house to win the Card Game, giving his team 3 events.

Thursday 9/18

Scores seem to soar on Medalist Day and today was no exception. Glen and KZ shine with a pair of +5's but fall 1 short of Ray's +6.

This is Ray's second Thursday Medal this month and 5th of the season. 'Thursday Ray' sound like a new nickname?

Don wins his 4th 2025 CTP.

Friday 9/19

Wayne's double jump +6 is the Medal winner, enough for victories on the Front 9 and the Total. His team's 5 birdies on the Front 9 are 3 more than the other 5 teams combined, which leads to an easy Rabbit win.

Leroy earns the CTP, his second in September.

Somebody dressed himself in the dark. At least the shoes are the same color.

Champion Golfer of the Year

I don't remember if Rick made a trophy and we held a tournament or if was the other way around, but we are on the eve of our 4th installment of our 'Major' championship.

Here is the history in just a few words.

2022 Tournament

The first day was played in terribly cold and windy conditions. Only 3 of the 18 participants manage a plus score.

Scott, one stroke behind leaders Mikey and Brian after Day 1, comes through with a +3 second day score to edge Brian and a hard charging Roger by one stroke. He claims the first ever BB's Championship.

2023 Tournament

A full field of 24 players compete and compete well as half the field shoot plus golf. A crowded at the top leaderboard after day 1.

Raymond matches his first day score of +6 while his fellow leaders quickly fall to the wayside. He only has to fend off an incredible +9 score from Rick to become the second name on the trophy. His +12 final score is still the tourney record.

2024 Tournament

A total of 18 BB's enters this year's championship. Nine post a plus first day number.

For the second time in 3 years, Brian is in the lead. This year, however, it is a 4-stroke lead over Butch and our defending champion Raymond.

Unfortunately for Brian, bad weather pushed day 2 into the next week where he had to make schedule arrangements just to compete on the last day. Any momentum he had built up the previous week had waned by the time he teed off. Still, he hung in there enough to claim a second place tie with our defending Champ Raymond only 2 shots back.

Randy comes from 10th place to slide into the victory circle with a +6 final day.

Who will place their name on the trophy in 2025?

Oddsmakers note that Brian, Raymond, Tom, and Rick are mainstays at the top these last 2 years. Will the winner come from that foursome?

Or will Scott or Randy become the first 2-time winner. 

Could it be one of the 6 first time entrants. 

Will Butch ever match his first day score and raise the trophy?
