Bud's Boys Week in Review 6/17-6/20

Three days of play to look at plus the Bingo wrap up.

But first a couple of things on the mind.

Bud's Boys suggestion of the day.

As the temperature is on the rise, we must do our best to handle the conditions. We already know that we should hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and also seek shade when possible. But how about considering the following.

The group behind you is ready to hit, ready to move on. Let's try to help out by moving out as quickly as possible.

We thank everyone who keeps score of course, but how about moving to the next tee before filling in the card? Every little bit helps.

Another possibility, especially if you are the passenger in the cart, take your swing and get in the cart. Put your headcover back on and put the club in your bag after you move to your next stop. Every second counts on 90 plus heat index days.

Tuesday June 17

Fourteen BB's signed in for Tuesday play. Play of the day was Random Skin.

Scott returned from his trip to Gatlinburg Tenn to tie for Medalist honors with a +6. "I was glad to get away from those ugly, smelly bears who were always scavenging for food,

or so I thought," he commented.

Scott's team won the Back 9 and the Total.

Rick was the star of his team, winning the CTP and leading his group to victory on the Front with his Co-Medalist +6.

Glen's birdie on 11 claims the Random Skin.

Hole number 9 was not selected for the Random Skin, but if it had, Tom's eagle on #9 would have taken the prize. His wedge from around 90 yards landed just right of the hole and spun back down the slope and into the jar.

Wednesday June 18 Birthday Bash

Tom, Jeff, Randy, and Bill F celebrated June birthdays on Wednesday along with 18 other party guests.

Scott wins Co-Medalist for 2nd day in a row and bags his 4th CTP to boot. His team wins the Front 9 and the Total, giving them 3 of today's 5 events.

Tom, Jeff and Ron were the only team to post a plus score on the Back 9 for their victory.

KZ fills in a straight to take the last event.

The birthday challenge today was for each team to try and birdie the combination of holes 6 and 9 (Jeff and Randy's new age) or 7 and 4 (Tom's).

Bill, Floyd, Wayne, and Dave managed to drain birdies on 4 and 7 to have their entry fees free for the day.

Thanks to Ron for providing the DQ ice cream cake and Bill F for providing the cookies.

Tom did an outstanding job in cutting the cake quickly and in precise portions.

Friday June 20

Friday's winning team score was consistent for the week. A +4 won on Tuesday, a modest +1 won Wednesday, and a +3 takes the prize today.

Floyd's Co-Medalist +3 spurs his boys on to wins on the Front and the Total.

Bill H's +3 leads his bunch to victory on the Back 9. His birdie on 10 also snares the Rabbit.

Jeff notches his 3rd CTP of the season.

Bingo Finally Over!

It took 21 days, but the Bingo game concluded on Tuesday June 17.

Heading into June, the Green and Blue teams each needed only 2 holes to complete their card.

When the Greens birdied #11 on June 3rd, victory seemed imminent. However, the golf gods seem to apply just enough pressure to make that last hole more difficult than normal. Four straight rounds without a birdie on #14 only added to the Green's stress, especially when the Blues crossed #17 off their list on June12th.

Tuesday June 17th turned out to be the day as the Blue team, in a stirring comeback similar to Sovereignty storming back to pass Journalism in the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont, birdied #5 to close out their 18 holes.

But not so fast, the Green Team still had all 6 players on the course with a chance to tie by one of them birdieing #14.

Glen, Rick, Ron, Clint, Bill, and Floyd, one by one, watched as their putts just would not fall.

The Blue team will have their award ceremony soon.

Captain Butch commented after the round.

Though I 'Carried', notice the bag, the team most of the way, I did hold back Tuesday to let someone else take the glory. But I was ready if needed."
