Lunch Suggestion for Thursday
Thursday seems like a good day for a lunch get together. 11:00 if you can make it.
Monday Results
We had a fivesome for Monday's 18-hole event. Doc and Butch challenged Raymond, Scott, and Randy on a Reverse Rabbit competition.
The Front 9 was tight through 4 holes, but then Doc and Butch both received a visit from 'Uncle Dub' (double bogey) on hole #5. Seemingly out of it at this point, never give up Butch lined up for his second shot on #7. I will let Butch describe what happened next in his own words.
"I was about 170 yards out, so I went with a three-quarter swing gap wedge and just smoothed it up to the flag."
I will now give my version of what I witnessed standing at the 100-yard mark. It looked like he hit a wood, possibly a 5, from about 120 to 125 out. I will agree that it was a gorgeous high arcing shot that looked destined to settle close to the pin. Unfortunately, due to my height challenged view, I couldn't see where the ball settled. Butch and I arrived at the green at the same time and there was no ball close to the pin. Right away he assumed it ran long, but I assumed the worse. That it went in the hole. Sure enough, when Butch peered into the cup, there lay his scuff covered Titleist. (See picture above) An eagle 2 that put his team back in the running.
Fortunately for my team, Butch and Doc gagged on holes 8 and 9 to give the Front 9 back to us.
The Back 9 was less interesting and a little chilly when the wind finally kicked in. (First 10 holes were played surprisingly in near perfect conditions) With Doc winning the CTP, both teams win 2 1/2 events for a tie.
That gives Doc 2 CTP's in a row setting him up for his shot at a 'Floyd'. He may have an awfully long time to think about it as weather forecast looking bleak for next several days. Stay tuned.
I hope Doc can give a better attempt than the Chiefs did as they tried for the NFL version of a 'Floyd'. They did an equivalent of topping the ball and watching it trickle into the water effort.
No way Doc would do that! Right Doc?
2025 Highs and Lows
Doesn't look like much action coming up so here are some useless info from our 2025 season thus far.
We have played 9 matches up to now.
Three people have hogged the CTP's in the early going. I believe all three are previous CTP season winners, so I suppose it's no surprise. Doc has 3 while Tom and Glen each have 2.
Unlike the CTP, The Medalist honor has 10 different players (one tie) for the 9 days played.
Tom has the best one-day score with a +6. Doc has a +5.
Best Front 9 team score is a +6. Back 9 +7.5 and best Total a +9.
The worst score to win the Total was a -8 in a 2-team match.
We have had 85 trips around the course in 2025 and there are 2 holes that have yet to be birdied. Make your guesses before I give the answer.
Most birdied holes are
#4 9
#12 7
#7 6 plus Butch's eagle
#9 6
The least birdied holes are
#8 2
#16 2
#18 2
No one has birdied #2 or #17.
