Bud's Boys Weekend Edition

A lot of numbers in today's blog including July Review and hole by hole stats for the 13 days played this month. We start, however, with play from Friday.

Friday August 2

Another day of sparse attendance with 9 BB's teeing off today. At least the weather backed off from the sweltering heat we had the last few days.

Allen was the MVP of today's round.

He was Medalist with a double-jump +7 leading his team to a runaway sweep for the FBT. Oh yeah, he also takes the CTP on the last tee shot of the day.

Scott's birdie on #11 ends an overtime Rabbit chase, preventing a clean sweep from Allen, Bob, and Butch.

Scott and Butch compare mustard stains from Leroy's breakfast sandwich mishap.

July Review

Before I get into the numbers, I would like to pass on this note from Doc in regard to his brother-in-law Lyle.

We played 13 days in July with 27 different BB's participating. We played 172 rounds for an average of 13 per day. Of the 27, 14 saw their number improve while 10 players saw their number drop for the month. There were 3 who stayed the same. Tom showed the biggest increase by moving his number up 4 for the month.

While we didn't have an individual dominate the month, we had several top performances. Here is the July Honor Roll.

Doc has 4 CTP's, the most for 1 month this year.

Leroy earns 3 Medals (top score for each day).

Tom and Glen continue to lead the most points in 1 day category. Tom has 2 days with 37 points and 1 with 36. Glen has 1 day with 37 and 2 days with 36.

Shelly has the highest score for the month, twice reaching +8. Other players who 'double jumped' were Tom with +7 and Leroy (twice), Clint, and Rodney reaching +6.

Money wise, here are the top four.

Randy $77
Tom $75
KZ $63
Mikey $61

Up to date CTP and Medalist rankings are....

CTP- Tom 10 Randy 9 Doc 8 Jeff 8 Glen 6 Allen 6 Butch 6

Medals- Scott 11 KZ 10 Roger 10 Leroy 9 Jeff 8 Bob 8

Hole by Hole with Bud's Boys

Since we started our Bingo game at the beginning of July, I decided to keep the scorecards and note the scoring on each individual hole. The Bingo game ended on the last day of July, giving us one month for our analysis. As stated above, 13 days were played (172 rounds). Granted that is not a big sample size, but here are the results produced by the BB's in July.

I am going to break this down in 2 sessions so as not to overwhelm you with all this useless information. I will start with the easiest 9 holes today and give you the hardest 9 in the next issue. Make your guesses now.

The number in parentheses is the actual Kimbeland handicap scorecard number.

18 (18) The easiest hole for Bud's Boys is hole Number 4. Our shortest hole was the easiest yielding 287 points (or 1.67 average). It also gave up the most birdies with 15.

17 (8) Next easiest was our opening hole #1. An extra tee shot obviously contributed to the 275 points scored. It allowed 8 birdies.

16 (9) A pretty big gap to our next easiest. The short par 5 13th is next at 259 points and the 3rd most birdies with 12.

15 (2) Surprising to me is the next hole, #7 with 255 points. 258 points is the dividing line between par and bogey, so we usually walked off this green with as many pars as bogeys. I also didn't expect that this hole had the 2nd most birdies with 13.

The next 4 holes could be interchangeable as only 4 points separate them.

14 (16) Hole #6 is next at 249 points and 8 birdies.

13 (15) Hole #17 gave up 248 points and 11 birdies.

12 (10) Hole #8 was reached for 247 points and 7 birdies.

11 (17) The 'extra pressure' tee shot on hole #18 drops what should be our 2nd                easiest hole to 11. 245 points and 10 birdies for the crowds to                       witness.

10 (14) The last hole on the 'easy 9' is hole #9. 240 points and 7 birdies.

Note that 6 of our easiest 9 are on the Front 9. Little wonder the Back 9 is generally tougher.

Stay tuned for the hard nine next issue.
