Bud's Boys What's Up 5-6-2024

Results from Thursday, April review, Doc's final pics from across the pond, and some sports blurbs from our own on location reporters. Billie Jo happens to be one of them so have 'Patience'.

Thursday May 2

Our last game of the week was on Medalist Thursday, and it brought out some excellent and interesting scoring.

Scott and Allen put in strong bids for the Medal with a pair of +5's. Butch and Brandon were close with +3's, but we need to take a closer at Brandon's scorecard.

Brandon's +3 total was due mostly to his personal best 17 points on the Front 9. The way he reached that number is the interesting part. We have several archivists scouring old scorecards but have found no one who has achieved 17 points on the Front, until now, without posting a single par. As unlikely as it seems, Brandon accumulated his 17 points via 5 bogeys and 4 well-earned birdies on 1,4,6, and 7. Only in BB's world do you find such accomplishment.

All the scores above, however, pale in comparison with today's Medalist.

Jeff's +9 blew away the field and was enough to carry Leroy and Doc to a victory on the Back.

Allen wins the CTP.

John, Bob, and Scott win the Total.

April Review

We played 15 days in April. Looking back over the last 4 years, our 60 total times played this year so far, compares well to the 56, 42, 48 totals of 2023, 2022, and 2021.

A total of 27 different players finished 172 rounds, a rather small turnout of 11 1/2 per day.

Tom had 3 CTP's for the month, 2 each for Shelly, Glen, and Mikey.

Scott, Roger, and Randy each earned 3 Medals.

Tom's 38 points on 4-4 were tops with 37 scored by Glen on 4-25 next.

Randy had a +10 on 4-4 followed by Tom's +9 the same day.

Doc Returns to the States

Here are some pics from Doc's travels through France. His Bud's Boys hat was proudly displayed for all of France to see.

Some of these were from Napolean's summer house. Below is the throne room of another French royal, the House of Pourney'.

Thanks, Doc, for sharing a bit of your adventure.

Sports on the Go

We sent Raymond to Busch Stadium to check out Sunday's action.

He reports that there was only one thing that somewhat made watching the worst 2 teams in baseball compete more manageable.

Last, but not least, we had Billie Jo go to the Kentucky Derby as a Bud's Boys Reporter. Here is a picture a couple of hours before the race. She poses the question, "Who should I put my money on?"

In the comments that followed, she had several suggest 'Fierceness' and 'Forever Young', of course, and one person even suggested 'Mystik Dan'. Another fellow said his favorite was 'Two Melons', but I didn't see that horse on the list.

At the end of the race Billie Jo reported that for the 150th year in a row, some horse won the Kentucky Derby.
