Sunday March 24

Bud's Boys Sunday Edition

Just like our old newspaper days, our Sunday paper is a little thicker. The computer is back up and running so we have 3 days of play to catch up with. But first, a reminder that this Tuesday, March 26, we are having our 'Masters Champions Dinner'. Doc has secured a private room at Olive Garden and all BB's and spouses are invited. We gather at 6:00. (That means 5:45 for Dean and John and other stragglers.) This is just a chance to socialize a little outside the confines of the golf course.

Olive Garden, Tuesday 6:00

Bring your appetites and enjoy a couple hours with the 'Boys'. I suspect our behavior will be a little better than usual with the ladies present.

Current BB's Champion Golfer Raymond will be fixing his favorite meal for the occasion, but everyone may choose to order off the menu if desired.

Wednesday March 20

Great weather brought out 20 BB's to participate in the Weds. Card Game. We didn't have room for John, so he was farmed out to the 'Cheeseburger ' group. More on that later.

As the temperature rose so did the level of play today. Teammates Clint (Medalist best +10, yes +10) and KZ (+6) have the top 2 scores of the day yet can only win the Total as other teams good play wins the Front and Back. Third wheel on the team Butch wins the CTP.

The team of Glen, Scott, Rodney, and Mikey earn a game high 10 cards which they end up needing everyone as Scott scores a winning straight with the last turn.

Leroy reads a proclamation that is seconded and accepted. More on that later.

Raymond lines up his birdie putt on 15 to possibly win the Back.

They do not win the Back.

Thursday March 21

As mentioned previously, John joined the Cheeseburger group on Wednesday. In an exchange program between the 2 groups, the man known only as Fitz, joined our group Thursday for Medalist Day. It turns out both players won big. John collected big on Wednesday and Fitz returned the favor today. Fitz wins Medalist with a 'raised eyebrow' +9, much to the chagrin of KZ (+8). Throw in Allen's CTP and Fitz wins 3 1/2 events today.

Today was also the first day of Match Play. Allen+5, KZ+8, Clint +6 and Tom +5 shoot lights out to win their matches. Roger and Scott go down to the wire in the only close match with Roger squeaking by. That busts the bracket of anyone who had Randy, Glen, Bob, Scott or Dean advancing.

Friday March 22

Friday was played in conditions most of us were unacquainted with. There was no wind. The scores reflected as much as only 1 of today's players did not reach his handicap number. KZ continues his hot stretch with a Medalist best +6. He is closely followed by Raymond +5, Scott +5, and Tom +4.

Butch wins his 2nd CTP in 3 days and 3rd of the month to add to his teams' 2 victories.

Scott's 3rd birdie of the day on hole 11 snares the Rabbit and gives his team 1 1/2 shares of today's money.

There was one second round match in the Match Play tourney. Tom's second consecutive one over par 35 point round stops an up to now red-hot Roger to crown Tom as the winner of the Bud Marshall Regional. He awaits the winner of the Norm Hayden Region.

In the bracket challenge, Raymond and Tom have correctly picked 5 of the 7 matches played to take an early lead.

John has a different sort of 3-hole run today. He smashes his drive on hole 2 that hits Doc's cart parked at the white stakes (Partners Rodney and KZ assured him he couldn't possibly hit it that far.)

He hits Randy's pushcart parked in the old greenside bunker on hole 3 with his 2nd shot.

He finishes his run by nailing Butch's head with his drive on hole 9 while Butch lined up his putt on 9 green.

I'm sure you guessed that all this story isn't true, and you would be correct. John didn't really hit Doc's cart. It actually rolled past inside the stakes by several yards. The cart is fine.

Doc and Butch hit their approaches on 15 after 2 booming drives.

Doc made the birdie.

Leroy's idea of the proclamation was borrowed from his buddy in Texas who have done this for a few years. We believe the friendships made through our continuing growth deserves as much.

Tomorrow is our last Monday till November. Take advantage if you can.
