Bud's Boys News

Is the weather responsible for this sudden rash of never seen before BB's golf accomplishments? There is a short recap of Monday's action, but we are going to start with the happenings of Tuesday.

The weather did not seem to invite good scoring as the 20mph winds never abated. In fact, our Monday Medalist Jeff backed out of playing because he thought the wind was too strong (Wah). I suspect the 80-degree temps must have been the equalizer as the day ended with new record scoring.

I flipped back through my old notebooks all the way to November of 2021. Anything before that was hard to comprehend as I hadn't yet settled on a simple to read format. Anyway, here are some numbers I found.

On 12/31/2021 the team of Tom (+5), Gary (even), Josh (+8), and Allen (+10) rang up a +23 score, the highest score I could find. On 5/31/2022 Tom +5, Dean +9, Rick +3, and Dennis Bucher +5 came close with +22.

As far as 3-person teams go, the best I found were a pair of +18's. Mikey +6, Leroy +8, and Doc +4 scored +18 on 11/17/2021. This was matched by Andy +6, Doc +8, and Roger +4 in March of 2022.

The best score for 9 holes I could find was +13.5, accomplished twice. The 3-person team of Allen, Rodney, and Brandon last year and the 4-person team of Randy, Rodney, Leroy, and KZ some time before that.

Throw all that out the window. The high winds couldn't deter the 23 birdies holed and a group score of +20. The eye-opening scorecard however, belonged to Tom, KZ, and Bob.

A record +25 was recorded by the Trio as Tom's respectable +6 was the lowest score. Bob chipped in with his +8 and KZ wore the Medalist of the day honor with a +11.

They also smashed the 9-hole record with a +15 1/2 on the Back. I think it is safe to say that their 23-point margin of victory over their closest pursuers is also a record.

You never know what you will miss when you choose not to play.

Oh, by the way, Roger's birdie on 4 wins the Skin and Randy wins the CTP.

Rick shoots a stellar +7 but was Ruppeled by his teammates (Clint being one).

Leroy's Kentucky shirt was lucky as his Wildcats edged Mississippi ST on Tuesday.

Jeff 's +8 is top score of the day and his birdie on 6 wins the Reverse Rabbit. Marty steals the CTP in the last group.
