Thursday Feb 15

We had 14 BB's play a post Valentine Day round. Play of the Day was Medalist Thursday. This was unfortunate for Doc, Scott, and Butch who were thinking one day ahead to Rabbit Friday.

Their multiple birdies, including 9,10, and 11, gave them a feeling of great confidence until the realization of the actual day's event hit home.

It was Thursday, not Friday.

Bob did know what day it was. His +7-performance wins Medalist, 4 points clear of his nearest competition. His back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 led him to 17 points on the Back 9.

Randy wins CTP to aid Bob, Clint, and Gerald in winning 4 of today's events.

An eagle on 13 by Tom and Shelly's birdie on 15 carries their team to +5 on the Back to prevent the clean sweep.

Jeff's win streak comes to an end today. He did tie Tom and Butch for longest streak of the year so far with 8. I had mistakenly (nothing new there) had him at 7 in a previous post.

Random Thoughts

A sportswriter once mentioned that even though thousands of baseball games have been played through the years, every time you go to a game you have a chance to see something never done before.

Now our humble little group has not played thousands of games yet, but on Tuesday we did have something done never before seen.

The group of Rick, Allen, Dean, and Butch played 18 holes, put away their gear and sat on the patio deck for several minutes watching other groups finish.

At this point we gather to compare scores to determine the winners. This is as near as I can remember to what happened next.

"Rick, do you have your team's scorecard ?"

"I think Allen has it."

"Allen, do you have the scorecard?"

"Me? No, Dean kept score. He is coming up the ramp now."

"Dean, can you give me your scores?"

"I thought Allen kept score."

"Butch, did you happen to keep score?"

So, there you have it. Nobody in the group kept score. This begs a few questions.
Did no one ever ask how the team was doing?
Did no one ask how many points they had during the round?
As you walked off the green, did you tell anyone what you scored.
This seems beyond belief in many ways and brings some images to mind.

Once more, no one questioned the score in any manner for 18 holes?

On the other hand, if everyone did everything correctly each day, what fun would that be. No one is perfect after all.

See you all next week!
