Weekend News Sunday Nov 5

Doc Chili Day Monday

Monday play starts tomorrow Monday 11/6. Tee off at 11:00. Doc will have chili and brownies at the end of play. As is true with every Monday in the winter, you must provide your own beverages! Do not miss out on this opportunity to eat, drink, and gripe about your game.

Don't be late, you may miss out on the fun.

 October Review

We were able to play 15 times in October, an average amount it seems this year. A total of 26 players completed 201 rounds, slightly down but close to our usual average of 14. The 15 CTP's were hogged by 5 players. Tom and Keith both claimed 3 for the month while Bob, Raymond, and Randy each had 2. That only left 3 for the other 21 players.

Bob and Roger earned the most Medals, 3 apiece. Tom, Glen, Keith, Allen, and Anita won 2.

In the 'Movers and Shakers' department, most players saw their number drop for the month with the windy and raw conditions toward the end of the month. Kudos to the 3 players who moved upward. Roger and Keith ended the month a modest 1 point better than the start. The only player with a 2 point increase was our own 'Mr. October', Leroy.

Several of our regulars saw a drop of 3 points in the tougher conditions, but there is concern for Doc who watched his number sink like, well....

anyway 6 points. November will be better, Doc.

Fun with Numbers

I picked 2 consecutive days (Oct 25,26) of strong 20 something mph winds from the south to examine the scorecards for anything interesting. Not surprisingly, in those conditions, the toughest 2 holes were #10 and #9.

The 2 holes were played 26 times over the 2 days. Only 24 points were scored on #10, less than a point per player average. Number 9 had 26 points scored, an even bogey 1 per player.

Next toughest were #15 (27 points) and #5 (29 points).

Holes 12, 13, and 18 drew my attention on Weds the 25th. We had 4 foursomes play that day with some odd scores on those 3 holes.

Number 12 was playing at the 90-yard distance, relatively easy for the group. Indeed 3 of the four teams walked off the green with 8 points, even par, if you will. The fourth team scored 3 points.

Number 13 showed 2 teams scoring 10 points (2 birdies, 2 pars), the other 2 only half as much with 5 each.

Number 18 resulted in 2 teams scoring 9 points each, 1-under par, while one team put 3 balls in the water in managing only 1 point. What makes this interesting is that the 1-point team won the Back 9 by that 1 point. Never give up.

The 3 balls in the water on 18 is a lead in for this graph sent in by Tom.

Thursday Results

An 8 player 4 on 4 match. Clint takes CTP, Glen is Medalist on Medalist Thursday.

Friday Results

Doc and Scott are co-Medalists with +2's. Clint's +1 teams with Scott and Randy to sweep FBT.

Glen takes CTP, already his 2nd in November.
