Bud's Boys Midweek Report

Monday 11/13

Monday was a double celebration of Raymond's 68th BD and his official crowning as BB's reigning Champion Golfer of the Year.

Raymond provided the group with a champion's menu of Ham & Beans served with cornbread and leftover Halloween candy as dessert.




A variety of Yuengling products were available to quench anyone's thirst.


Don't worry, Doc was driven home safely (although he didn't show up Tuesday).


The Boy's gave an enthusiastic thumbs up to the quality and quantity of the meal.


After the meal Raymond was presented with his freshly engraved trophy. Forever more, the name Randy 'Raymond' Balsman is etched in Bud's Boys history. Sergeant-at-Arms Leroy safely delivers the valuable prize to its new owner.


Oh, by the way, there was golf played today also.

Leroy wins the Medal with an amazing score of +10, 6 strokes clear of his nearest competitors. His team wins the Total. Teammate Clint's birdie on 8 snares the reverse Rabbit, our new Monday game that starts the Rabbit running on 18 going backwards. This makes their team the only double winner today.

A sober Doc wins the CTP for his team.



Tuesday November 14



Tuesday's game was a celebration of Dean's 81st BD. To show Father Time who is the boss, Dean shoots a 77 to beat his age easily by 4 strokes. Still the stud with the 3/4 swing.

As reported earlier, nobody was able to claim the Augusta money clip, so Dean graciously paid everyone's entry fee for the day. 

It's amazing how well the group played today without the pressure of losing 5 dollars (yes, this group is really tight with their money). In fact, 12 of today's 15 players scored in the plus category.

Leroy followed up his +10 from yesterday with strong +8.  That, however, was not good enough to earn Medalist honors. Scott matched Leroy's Monday performance with his own +10.

When asked to comment on his round, Scott was not that much impressed with the score. "I just figured if Leroy did it surely I could as well."

Randy wins the CTP.

Keith's birdie on #16 wins the random skin.



Wednesday 11/15

No birthdays to celebrate today but the week of Leroy continued. His +5 wins his 2nd Medal of the week. His 3-day total for the week has reached +23. The next best is our first CGOTY Scott with +11. Our current CGOTY, Raymond, checks in at +1. This leads to an interesting exchange with Leroy when interviewed post round.

"I swear I thought the Champion's Tournament was this week!", Leroy claimed. "I had specifically set my schedule to peak this particular week. To be honest, seeing how handily I have bested our new champ this week, I am considering a petition for a recall or impeachment or some kind of recount."

Congratulations go out to Brandon for winning his first CTP of the year. He said he was sure he wouldn't be shut out for the year and vows to win one much earlier next year.

Doc gathered himself well enough to return to play today with a strong 32-point performance.

  Happy St Patrick's Day everyone. Today's edition has the final results from Thursday and Friday's rather small turnouts. Mother's Day 5/12

  Happy Mother's Day to everyone. I trust we are all treating the mothers in our lives like the queens they deserve to be treated. Hard to believe my own has been gone 41 years, but the 27 I lived with her are still as vivid as can be. Today might be Mother's Day, but Friday was certainly Mudder's Day. A seven-day layoff for BB's as our course was recovering from the deluge of constant rain. Though most of the course was okay, many swings today produced a spray of mud and water. The layoff combined with the conditions made plus golf a challenge. Tom's Medalist best +5 and Shelly's +3 were the only scores that moved their hcp# upward. No team finished plus in any of the FBT categories. Butch wins the CTP and Doc turns 2-pair in the Card Game to give their team 2 events today despite having the worst score of the 4 teams. Champion Golfer Full Coverage

Champion Golfer of the Year Raymond had to be on his game to win, as there were several great rounds turned in over the two days of play. Let's start at the beginning as we go step by step through the stages of the tournament. Thursday, Day 1 Twenty-four Bud's Boys teed off in hopes of taking home the big trophy. The weather was 40 degrees warmer than day 1 last year. The scores reflected the great conditions as half the field finished in the plus column. Butch leads at +7, 1-up on Raymond, Clint, and Floyd.
