Champion Golfer Full Coverage
Champion Golfer of the Year
Raymond had to be on his game to win, as there were several great rounds turned in over the two days of play.
Let's start at the beginning as we go step by step through the stages of the tournament.
Thursday, Day 1
Twenty-four Bud's Boys teed off in hopes of taking home the big trophy. The weather was 40 degrees warmer than day 1 last year. The scores reflected the great conditions as half the field finished in the plus column.
Butch leads at +7, 1-up on Raymond, Clint, and Floyd.
Par 3 winners today
#4 Westy
#6 Butch
#8 Tom
#18 Bob

Friday-Tournament Conclusion
The group came out in patriotic red, white, and blue to support our Ryder Cup team (they needed considerably more than that it turned out).
Front 9
Another great weather day and plenty of optimism as tee time neared. Several players scorched the Front 9 in an attempt to catch up.
Hottest start to the round belonged to Tom with 4 birdies in his first 5 holes and 1 more on #7. He finishes with 21 points through 9.
Dean birdied 3 of his first 4 and 1 more on #8.
Rick's birdies on #5, #8, and #9 results in19 points, a Front 9 best +5 1/2. He moves up to 2nd place at the turn.
Brian's birdies on #8 and #9 give him a +5 in his first 9, 2nd only to Rick.
Doc shoots an even par 18 points to stay in contention.
Raymond is the only player in the feature group to add to his total. His even par 18 points puts him in the lead at +9.
First round leader Butch succumbs to the pressure, falling back to a tie for 10th.
Raymond has a slight lead, but there is a wide-open race behind him with 10 players within 3 points of 2nd. Stay tuned.
Final 9
Unfortunately for most challengers, the Back 9 offered no welcome path. Most of the leaders fell back, leaving only 3 contenders.
Rick birdies #16 and #17 to finish his round with an even par 36 points, +9 on the day, leader in the clubhouse at +10.
Tom finishes an incredible round with 8 birdies and a total of 4-under par 40 points. His tournament ends at +7, 3 behind Rick.
Butch does make a rally on the back by finishing in a tie for 4th with Jeff and Allen with +4.
With 3 holes to play, Raymond has continued his solid play and finds himself needing 4 points to tie and 5 points to win in those last 3. All suspense nearly ends when his 3-point birdie on #16 leaves him only 2 points from victory. A bogey on #17, however, gives Rick hope by forcing Raymond to clear the water with his tee shot on 18.
Raymond comes through like a 'Champ' with a solid iron to the green. setting up a 2-putt par and a 2-point victory. Even his archrival Rick had to pay him props (but not happily).
Final scores and side game winners below.
I don't know how this tournament could have gone any better. Great turnout, great weather, excellent cooperation, excellent spirit of what we have tried to establish with the group.
We had many different winners in the side games thanks to Scott's clever tournament design, and everyone participated in the post round festivities of food and drink. I am posting all pictures taken by myself and others (even though most look alike) just to give a little feel of a special 2 days.
Rick accepts CTP money for #6 and #8 and Friday Medalist
