Leroy Calls His Shot!
The first day of August didn't go as well for some as it did for others. I started badly by forgetting my roster print outs, requiring me to write down names, leading me to omit the first Bud's Boy to show up today in Westy.
After my mistake was rectified, we had a re-draw for the 5 3-man teams. With a threat of Weds rain, Tom suggested a Tuesday Card game, which we did. (By the way Tom, my team offers belated thanks for your idea.)
Before we even made the teams, Leroy announced his intent to start August by playing like he did in June (very well), not like he did in July (not so much very well). He comes through big time by carding a +4 round, second only to teammate Dean's Medalist best +6. Their scores were good enough to carry John along for a FBT sweep.
Scores were extremely tight among 4 of the teams. Only 1/2 a point separated 3 teams on the Front, and a point and a 1/2 on the back. Only 4 points separated the 4 teams for Total. The fifth team could not keep up, finishing a rather distant 21 points behind their closest competitors.
Doc wins CTP with a cozy shot inside 4 feet on 18.
Randy, Scott, and Butch earn a game high 8 cards, winning with 2-pair.
Good rounds from Scott, Brian, and Raymond as they join Leroy at +4.
Play of the Day
The play of the day easily goes to Butch for this crafty move. (Stay with me, a little explanation needed)
Butch rode with Scott on the Front 9 as I walked. After 9, I threw on with Scott as Butch grabbed a Rental cart. We went inside to refresh our drinks and headed to 10 tee box. I hit my tee shot when Butch announces he will be right back as he headed back to the clubhouse. Upon his return, he mistakenly told us the truth instead of making something up. Seems when he came out of the clubhouse, he just jumped in the first rental that had a bag on it (they all do look alike) and went on down to the tee box. At least he was able to figure out those were not his clubs before he hit. He returned in time so as not to be turned in for stealing clubs. No harm, no foul. He requests that you do not share this with Andy.
Don’t worry Butch . Big question is -“ were the borrower clubs high end “ ! Thanks .
