June Review- Results of the Week & Fun with Numbers- Monday Golf 9:42

One-time Monday golf tomorrow. 9:42 tee time

The year is officially half over as we closed out play this week. Don't blink, the year will be over before you know it.

Fun with Numbers

I would like to start with a few interesting (to me anyway) fun number facts.

Age is just a number, but it is impressive that we have several of our group skilled enough (and old enough) to shoot their ages or better. On Tuesday I was fortunate to witness Rodney best his age by 8 with a 74. Way to go, Hot Rod.

Math Pop Quiz. How do you score 17 points on the Back 9 without making a par? Answer: By taking a ride on the Doc rollercoaster. 5 bogeys with 4 birdies mixed in make for a true up and down ride. Thanks, Doc, for the ride and for the picture of Kimbeland at sunset above.

A not so fun oddity from Scott. Last week he had 2 days where he shot a combined -10 and still won $1. The other 2 days he shot a combined +11 and lost $8. As Leroy often says, "You got to have good teammates!"

June Review

We played 15 days in June with a total of 31 different players contributing to the 241 rounds of golf, a strong average of 16 per round.

Glen captured 3 CTP's for the month. Tom, Jeff, and Dean each had a pair.

That makes the yearly CTP leaderboard look like this.

Tom   9
Raymond   8
Glen   8
Jeff   7
Bob   6

Jeff won 3 Medals for the month. Glen and Roger were the only other multiple winners with 2. For the year our leaders are:

Scott   15
Tom   10
Jeff   7
Bob   6
Raymond  6

Remember the slogan, 'Find your Game' by Taylormade, I think?
These golfers found their game in June. From the first day in June to the last, KZ improved his hcp# by 7. Tom and Butch 4.

I forgot to list those names from May, so I will do it now.
Keith improved by 6, Leroy 5, and Rodney 4.

Tuesday 6/27 Results

Though Total scoring did not equal our high scoring from Friday, more birdies were made on Tuesday to start the last week of June. Probably a season high 30 birdies were holed on the day.

The birdie hogs were Doc, Butch, and Tom, winners of the Back and Total. They had 3 birds on the Front and then went a little crazy with 8 birds (and Tom's eagle on 11) on the Back. All 3 birdied 13.

Doc's birdie on 18 was from CTP winning range.

Rodney and Jeff each shot even par on the outward 9 to give their team victory on the Front.

A couple pics from Leroy. Clint hitting his new driver, Westy still hitting his old one.

Wednesday 6/28

Scoring took a major drop today although reasons are not clear.

Glen shoots a 1-under par 70 to earn Medalist with +5.

Scott & Floyd shoot +3's good for Front and Total.

Thursday 6/29

Triple digit temps arrive for Thursday and Friday, limiting our group to 11 today. Cloud cover and constant breeze gets everyone through the day with no issues.

All 3 teams score +4.5 on the Front, another oddity.

Glen is Medalist (+7) for 2nd straight day, this time with a 4-under 67 (40 pts on Back 9).

Jeff is given the CTP. (Editor's note: Do not forget to leave a tee in the ground on 18. Your shot could win whether you believe it or not.)

Friday 6/30

Temps again top 100, this time no clouds or breeze. We had 8 of us do a 9 & dine. We played an unofficial 9-hole match and gathered inside for lunch. Of course, Mikey (and Roger) went back out to finish 18.
