Wednesday May 3

Tuesday and Wednesday Recaps

May could not have started in a more exciting fashion! We begin the month Tuesday with the Holy Grail for golfers, the hole-in-one, followed by some crazy good scoring on Wednesday. Here is how it shook out. Bingo update at the end.

Tuesday

Our reigning 'Champion Golfer of the Year' shows out again. Today Scott adds to his collection of Aces with a beauty of a shot on #6. A self-described knockdown 4 iron into the wind gently drew onto the green, landed, and rolled straight into the cup for his 6th career hole-in-one.

This easily led his team to a +7 victory on the Front. Randy's CTP gives the team half of today's pot.

Other performances worth mentioning today includes Raymond's trifecta on the front. 3 birdies, pars, and bogeys on his first nine adds up to an even-par 18 points.

John joined Scott as one of the 3 Medalists with a +8. His 19 points on the Back gave his team that victory and enough to win the Total.

Keith was the 3rd Medalist today, but unfortunately his +8 did not figure in the winnings.

Wednesday

Today was one of those days where bringing your 'A' game might not be enough. A mind boggling 15 players (out of 22) saw their hcp # go up by shooting +2 or better. Hard for me to believe we have ever had that many go up in one day. The group finished a whopping +50 which resulted in some hard luck losses. Scott, Rodney, Mikey, and Dean had to feel good about their team score of +6.5 +8.5 +15 when they turned in their card only to be stunned to find out that was only good for a tie for Total. Not even enough to win back their entry fee despite the +6 from Rodney and +5 from Dean (3 birdies on the Front).

Tom was high point man with a one under par total of 37 points. 20 of those points came on the back nine with the help of 3 birdies. That performance, with the help of Roger's +6, earned his team the Back 9 and the other half of the Total tie.

KZ was today's Medalist. His +8 was key to his team's +11 Front 9 victory.

Glen's CTP was one of the 8 cards his team earned, allowing them to also win Card Game on Wacky Wednesday.

To refresh some readers on the rules, each team earns a card for every par 3 green hit in regulation. We turn the cards at the end of the round and best poker hand claims the extra pot for Wacky Wednesday. This has added another level of fun for the group. (Excellent pic by Doc)

Dean describes Scott's Hole-in-One to Rodney.

"It started out about this high, and then

took off like a rocket, right in the cup!"

Bingo Update

Rick's birdie on 9 was the only new square crossed out last week. Today saw 2 more bite the dust. Glen's from off the green birdie on 10 leaves the Gophers with only 14 and 15 remaining.

Tom's 3 on 15 leaves the Turkeys with only 2,7, and 14.

The Beagles remain stagnant for the 2nd consecutive week still needing 5,7,14, and 17.
