Bud's Boys Week in Review

Genius!

We have results from Thursday along with a closer look at some of this week's outstanding performances. Also, some weekend happenings of some of our crew that certainly belong in the 'outstanding' category and Billie Jo is back with a very simple 'Ask Bud's Boys' question. However, we start today with a new award that may occasionally pop up when deserved. In fact, I am awarding myself with the first ever

'Most Fortunate Teammate of the Week'

award. In a landslide vote, I earned this award easily as you will read next.

Tuesday, I witnessed Scott's hole-in-one and shared in the winnings that came with it.

Wednesday, I witnessed my teammates earn enough cards for us to win the card game and Glen the CTP. (Yes, more winnings.)

Thursday will be detailed below, needless to say I reaped the benefits of my teammates play.

Saturday, I teamed with Tom for the Kimbeland Men's Assoc. Best-Ball Tournament. This will also be looked at in more detail below and you will see how I clinched this 'new' award.

Thursday

Leroy's new putter.

Sgt-at-Arms and Rules arbitrator Leroy offers this. Do not try this with us.

We had a few players out on assignment, golf trip for some, Raymond and Rick playing their LIV match, among the reasons. Still, we had 14 clock in for work on a Rabbit Thursday as we Celebrated Bill's birthday. Thanks to Bill for graciously making sure no one went thirsty at conclusion of the round.

Bill earns the CTP as his birthday present, let's get that in the books before I delve into numbers of my teammates.

Jeff is Medalist with +10 and tops in points (34).

I do not have a 'Record Book' although we throw out the question "Was that a record?" quite frequently. That said, I do not remember if any team has scored +19 1/2 points on one side, but we did today. I do not remember if a team has finished a round at +27, but we did today. I do not remember if a team has scored 69 points on one side (or 126 total), but we did today. I do not remember if a team had all 4 players score 30 or above, but we did today. I doubt anyone has had their 3 teammates score a total of +25, but I did today! (Fortunate Teammate Indeed!) In honor and thanks for their efforts, here is the card for Keith, Rodney, and Jeff. Notice Jeff doubled #1 and still had 18 points on front.

I need to list the scoring that some of our gang posted this week. In 3 days of playing, Keith totaled a +20, Scott +18, KZ +14, Roger and Rodney +11. In 2 days, Jeff +11, John +10, and Leroy +7.

The group shot +66 for the 3 days. A sign of things to come, or an outlier?

 Saturday

Strong BB's play continued on Saturday.

Bob bests his age by 3 strokes, 3 big 'atta-boys' to Bob for his 73.

Raymond and Mikey team up for the KCC Best-Ball and come through with a first-place tie in 'A' Flight.

As mentioned at the start, I teamed up with Tom for the KCC best-ball. This officially checks the last box in my 'Fortunate Teammate' award.

Tom took on the best 2-man teams KCC could put together, and all by himself finished in a tie for first with the other 2-man teams with a 5-under-par 66. His 'Fortunate Teammate' helped him 1 whole shot to give the team an outright victory in the Championship Flight.

A look at the scorecard asks, "Did I help Tom by 1 or did he help me by 15?"

How impressive is that?

In accepting my award, I would like to thank all my teammates these past few days and I promise to buy a round next week, unless of course it is someone else's turn.

Ask Bud's Boys

Billie Jo is back! She posted this simple question for our expert panel of advisers.

Well, Billie Jo, we are always ready to help when needed and here is what we have come up with after much discussion.

Sometimes it depends on who you are 'playing' with.

Sometimes it depends on if you are in a hurry to get your round over.

Sometimes it depends on the conditions. The 'pins' here at KCC are probably a lot older than the ones on courses you usually play, making them more unpredictable, so it should be a hole-by-hole decision, depending on the angle or whether you are above or below the 'pin'.

So, in the end, it comes down to a mutual agreement between you and your playing partners. As always, being considerate to others is always the best option.

Bingo Update

The last holes becoming increasingly frustrating as the pressure builds. Doc and Jeff both birdied 7 within minutes of each other so they get co-billing. Same with Tom and Roger on 15.
