Bud's Boys Week in Review May 9-12

Results for all 4 days of play this week plus some SEMO SR news, injury updates, Bingo update, and a feature segment on the hottest player on the planet who happens to be one of our own. My team won the card game on Wednesday, but this player had an Ace in the hole to finish the week on Friday. Settle in with your favorite beverage, catch up with all the news you have missed, and I dare you to stay awake to the end.

BB's Injury Update

Jeff passes on the news that Westy has some shoulder issues that may limit his participation in the near future. Check in Westy, I will pass on any updates.

Speaking of Jeff, he and Mikey are battling some back discomfort, causing them to miss some playing time.

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but I will pass on some advice given to me by one that could help several of our group.

Stretching.

Yes, regular stretching could help prevent some of our nagging discomfort. Here is the most effective stretch told to me by said Dr.

While sitting at your dinner table, place both hands straight in front of you while grasping the table. Push slowly away from the table, stand up and walk away BEFORE you have a second helping. For some reason he claims this will help prevent back problems.

SEMO SRs

The SS event in Poplar Bluff included 6 of our Bud's Boys. We had no First Place finishes, but as usual, we fared very well.

Bob shoots 76 net 66 to take 2nd in Super Senior group 1. ($55)

Glen 70 net 65 to take 3rd in Older group 1. ($45)

Leroy 85 net 68, good for 6th in Og 4. ($15)

Marty 84 net 63 wins $25 in Og 5 for 5th place.

Bill's net 69 and Gary's net 71, while well played, fell short in their respective groups.

Thank you, men, for representing BB's in a positive fashion.

Tuesday May 9

As is typical, Tuesday is our biggest turnout of the week. We had 18 tee off and 17 finish as Mikey left early to tend to furniture delivery.

Gerald wins Medalist with a +7 but doesn't have the support to overcome Keith's +6 and KZ's +3, as their team takes Back and Total.

KZ's tee shot on 18 settles next to hole after hitting the flag stick to win CTP.

Wednesday May 10

Rain chances held player count to only 12 in what could be described as a very normal day. Normal in that 10 of the 12 players stayed within 2 points of their hcp #. Jeff and Keith share Medalist with modest +2's.

Interesting in how our game works, the by far worst team of the day (-9 as a team) wins 2 of the events. Clint wins his 2nd CTP of the year on 18, and his team earns enough cards to flush away Jeff's 2 pair to win the card game.

Thursday May 11

The Poplar Bluff Tourney and more bad weather forecasts held or number to 10 today, but we completed the round without delay.

Scott claimed the CTP, and his Co-Medalist +4 earns a tie on the Front for his team.

Rodney's Co-Medalist +4 leads his team to the other 2 1/2 events.

Friday May 12

Let's step back a few days to get a better picture of today's events.

Keith ended April and began May with a hcp# of 21. In late February and early March he had briefly touched 26 but came back down to the 21, 22 area for the rest of March and April. May has brought out a new and improved version of Keith that begs the question, "How does he do that"?

Fun With Numbers, Keith Version

Keith's points in May up to Friday- 29 26 31 30 27 21
Keith's hcp #  in May up to Friday- 22 23 24 25 26 25

This included a 19 point back nine.

He was +28 for the month going into Thursday.

He finally came back to earth on Thursday with a normal April score of 21, or did he?

Friday Wrap Up

Raymond ties Tom for the CTP lead with his 7th this year. A beauty that stops just inches from the cup. As you have probably guessed from the picture at the top, Raymond's tee shot on 18 was not the best approach shot to a par 3 today. Keith scores his first ever hole-in-one on #12. Witnesses said it was in the 'looked good all the way' category, and Keith actually saw it go in resulting in a very cool 'non-Keith like' reaction. I think that means he really seemed excited.

Oh, but this story is not over yet!

Fast forward to hole 16 and Keith mulling over his second shot after a solid drive. He pulls the same Gap wedge he used on 12 for his ace, aims, and takes his swing.

Yup, he jars this shot also for his 2nd eagle in 5 holes. Two Hole outs from just inside 100 yards on the same back 9!

His 32 points are tops for the day.

His +7 wins Medalist and FBT sweep for his team.

Did I mention his birdie on 5 won the Rabbit?

Great job Keith, congrats on the Ace, what a way to finish an extremely hot 2 weeks of golf. Enjoy it while you can, it is golf after all. Unfortunately, Keith's schedule will probably limit him to only playing Tuesdays for a while. Can he maintain his level of play? Tune in next week. Same Bat-time, same Bat-station!

Bingo

Turkeys need 7 and only 7

Gophers 14 and 15

Beagles stuck on 5, 14, 17
