 Bud's Boys Weekend News

It seems I have not posted as much lately and with not much content when I do. So, it seems logical that I should change the blog's name to "The Southeast Missourian". Maybe not.

Did any of you blink and then notice our year is 1/3 over. April is ending, league play is starting at the club, men's and women's association tournaments begin this coming weekend. Warmer weather is bringing out more players. Golf is getting a little busier at KCC. This could be a good time to remind everyone about what makes our modest little group run fairly smoothly. Our mission is to provide an enjoyable 18 holes of golf for everyone playing that day. Ask yourself what you can contribute to the group to make that happen, the group is not here to accommodate you.

Speaking of tournament play, SEMO Seniors held its first tourney of the year Monday at KCC. Although most BB's came out of the gate a little slow, we can proudly announce our lone first place winner. Gary carded a sizzling net 8-under 64 to easily win his division. Congrats Gary, do not be shy with your secrets to success, or your winnings.

Tuesday 4/24 Results

Warm weather brought out 21 BB's anxious to take advantage of the conditions. And well they did with the group shooting a remarkable +41 over our handicaps.

Shelly led the assault with a Medal winning +9, including birdies on 11 and 13. Other top performances included +7 for Scott, +5 for Clint and KZ. Rick scored birdies on 5 and 9 to finish with 19 points on the Front.

Teamwise, it is not often a team can score +6 +4 +10 and not win anything, but that happened today amidst the high scoring. It took +9.5 to win Front, +7.5 for the Back, and 2 teams tied at +13 for Total.

Bob wins the CTP, his 5th, to close out the day.

In all, 11 of the 21 shot +2 or better to see their number go up.

Wednesday 4/25

Another beautiful day again brought out 21 BB's, matching Tuesday's total. Scoring wasn't as good as yesterday, but still the group finished a +17.

Gerald, Clint, and Kim led the way with their +5's, tied for Medalist honors. Glen scores 35 points, Doc, Raymond, and Clint top the 30 mark.

Westy wins his first CTP of the year and then turns over trip 8's to win the card game, giving his team a near Royal Flush of today's pot. A tie on the Front was the only blemish on their attempt to sweep.

Thursday 4/26

A few readers may be surprised to see there was play on Thursday. The threat of rain held the number of participants to only 7. However, the hard stuff held off until we finished, making it a sanctioned event with all stats counting.

Scott takes his 11th Medal at +6 and his 3rd CTP. Teammate KZ cards a +4 and his birdie on 10 catches the Rabbit.

April Review

We managed 13 days of play in April. We had 34 different players for the month, many of them first timers this year. A total of 216 rounds were played, a very high average of over 16 per day. The several outstanding weather days brought out 18 or better 8 of the 13 days, topping out at 22. This would be a good time to remind everyone to report in early or give us a heads up if you are coming to help organizing the big crowds.

Westy took advantage of his 6 appearances by topping the money list. Interesting that Dean was near the top with only 2 appearances.

Scott, KZ, Randy, and Tom were only players with more than 1 Medal, each with 2.

Top 3 in Medal count for the year are:

Scott 11
Tom    8
Gary   5

Doc and Bob were only multiple CTP winners for April with 2 each.

Top 3 CTP so far:

Tom  7
Raymond 6
Bob  5

By the way, if you read last week's story about the last groups success in winning the CTP, you may be interested to know that the last group won all 3 CTP's this week. Just saying.

On a Roll Department

We note 11 players 2 points or higher at the end of April than what they started with.

Streaking right now are Raymond with 4 straight advances, KZ and Westy with 3 in a row.

Unnecessary Info Dept

Before attending a recent wedding (or any other non-golf related event actually), my lovely and talented bride asked me what I was wearing. My response was, "Does it really matter"? Sometime a few days later, she found this little post online and seemed satisfied in sharing it with me.

Guilty as charged.
