Wednesday February 1
Friday Lunch, February Arrives, January Review and whatever else comes to mind while I sit here.
Unless a minor miracle allows us to play golf Friday, plan on another special committee meeting at 11:30 in our happy place, Kimbeland CC.
February has arrived in its usual fashion. This is my 3rd year of tracking our little groups golfing exploits and February has been by far the least cooperative month for allowing us to get on the course. In both 21 and 22 we only got 4 days of play in for the whole month. Ice that stubbornly refuses to melt has been the main cause those 2 years and starts the same this year. My eternal golfing optimism, however, tells me that in one good week we can get 4 days in and possibly add more before the month ends. Hang in until then.
January Review
Even though we had no play the last week of January, we still got 11 rounds in for the month. That was 1 better than 2022.
We had 25 players participate this month (albeit 7 for one time only) for a total of 129 rounds, almost 12 a day average.
Individually, we had one exceptional standout. He started the month with a hcp of 29 yet finished at 34. He takes the CTP lead with 3, was Medalist (or co-) 4 of his 8 appearances and was the leading money winner (which means most to him). Not known as a bragger, he has requested anonymity, but suggests you look at the top of our hcp list to see his 34.
Close behind were KeyZ and Bob. KeyZ had 2 CTPs and was a 2-time Medalist. Bob was a 3-time Medalist but more importantly is sitting on 2 consecutive CTPs. He has been waiting over a week for his chance at a 'Floyd' and it looks like he will wait a little longer. Will he be able to remember his swing from that long ago?
Picture of the Year
I had full intentions of having a complete 2022 review, going month by month of highlights, lowlights, or anything else interesting. That ended fairly quickly (halfway through January) when I realized how uninteresting our group really is. There was one moment, however, that I thought qualified as interesting. On a typical day of waiting for their 2nd shot on 13, Butch, Rick, and Clint broke out in their version of 'YMCA' by the Village People. I hate that we didn't get video, but at least we got one still picture.
3 people played this week
