Golf is Played Monday and Tuesday
Since we last played January 24th, we have had a couple of committee meetings to discuss golf (and other stuff) patiently waiting for conditions allowable for play.
We may see a 3-club challenge or something along those lines just to shake things up before regular play starts in the spring.
Jeff brags that he has been getting his golf in down south.
Notice that you can't see where each one of these guys has their other hand? Hmm..
Monday Results
Bob had to wait 2 weeks before he could go for his 3rd straight CTP and to his surprise, the pin was still in the same spot. He came through with a right at the pin effort, only to see it settle inches outside of a nice shot by Butch, ending his quest for the Floyd.
The 2-week layoff didn't seem to hinder most of today's 15 players, as an average score today was close to even. Gary takes Medalist honors with +6 followed by a +3 from Raymond. Glen and Raymond's 32 were tops in points.
Butch's CTP gives his team 3 of 4 events as they take Back and Total. Gary's effort leads Tom and Roger to a win on the Front.
Futility Tuesday (Warning: Scores Listed Below Should Not Be Viewed by Sensitive Golfers!)
What changed in one day to cause such a massive nosedive in scoring? Yes, they finally changed pin placements. No, the weather wasn't colder or more windy. Fearing rain in the next couple of days (correctly), Glen announced we would celebrate his birthday early with drinks and eats on him, but to my knowledge no one started drinking early. Here are the facts.
The group as a whole shot -52. That's an average of -4, PER PLAYER!
I do not recall a group this large (13) not have a single player move up a point in handicap. Scott and Gary share Medalist with +1.
On the front, holes 2,3, and 9 allowed only 12 points each, less than 1 point per player average.
The back was worse. Holes 10, 11, and 14 gave up only 8 points each. Only 1 par was scored on 10 and 11, but NO PARS on 14.
Until the 4th and last group came in, the leader in the clubhouse had posted -3 -7 -10. The first two teams came in at -17 and -19 respectively.
So, who managed to win this mess? That brings us to Butch, now known as Mr. February.
We had a great post round celebration of Glen's birthday, but it seems Butch got all the presents. His team won all 5 events, even taking the poker hand. A Royal Flush indeed.
Butch's teams have now won 8 of the 9 events played in February! Toss in the fact that he has won the first two CTPs this month does mean we have another....
Floyd Alert!
Butch will have to wait for the grounds to dry out enough for play, so he may have to wait a bit. Hope he doesn't miss the bus on the day we return.
Don't miss Monday as Gary plans a special treat to celebrate his birthday.
