 Wednesday Results

Westy and Keith joined the group for the first time this year,

giving us 14 players for Wacky Wednesday.

Temperature- 56' at tee off, mid 60's by 18

Players took advantage of the super weather conditions by scoring +7 as a group.

Toughest holes on the front, 2 & 7, yield 15 while easiest is #4 with 26 (28 points even par).

Easiest on back is 18 at 24 points, toughest 11 & 12 with 17.

 Front

Tom, Randy, Rick, and Gary were all plus for the opening 9, earning their only victory of the day.

Back and Total

Scott, KeyZ, Rodney, and Glen score 7 points on 18 to eke out wins in both B and T.

CTP

KeyZ wins his 2nd of the year to give his team 3 of the 5 events.

Wacky Wednesday Poker Game

The winner came down to the 2 teams with the most cards earned. Team Westy with 10 and Tom playing the 12 cards his team amassed. Turning his cards in a most 'interesting' way, Westy filled an ace high club flush with his last card. Tom had several fillers for a full house available, but none hit the mark, giving Team Westy a return on their investment.

BB's Notes

Doc had hand surgery while the rest of us were doing the above.

Now he braces for the first of his cataract surgeries on Monday. Stay Strong Doc! Better eyes are on the way!

Those of you that stuck around Wednesday were saddened at the news Stan shared as he made a visit after our round. He will not be renewing his membership this year.

It is hard for me to say exactly what I mean about this, but here goes. I have not played as many rounds with Stan as I have with most of our regulars, but this much I know to be true. He is the most gentlemanly player we have. He always puts the group ahead of himself. Playing well gets a "just lucky" comment from him while a bad round gets a shrug and "just glad to be out here playing". Always willing to help out whether re-gripping clubs or any other way he can assist. His knowledge of golf and golf equipment will certainly be missed by me as well as his golf stories from his previous golf stops before Kimbeland. As Dean says, "He is one of the TRUE good guys". This is why I hope he continues to visit when possible.

I understand Stan is trying to sell his cart if anyone is interested.

Random Ramblings

Let me tell you a quick little story about very small-town politics. Two council members were having a very heated argument about one of them doing something a little, shall we say, shady. The young, newly elected council member challenged the older council member to take a lie detector test to prove he wasn't breaking any laws. The older council member responded, "I will take a lie detector test if you take a drug test". End of argument.

This came to mind because testing (not drug or lie detector), might be something we should consider. It is true that someone observing our pre-round gathering around the practice green is not going to confuse us with a Mensa meeting, but should we have minimum standards? Consider the following evidence.

If you remember Thursday's weather, you would be certain that, as the saying goes, no one in their right mind would have played golf. However, 2 of our regulars (thanks Raymond for the picture) and 2 others testing our waters finished their Thursday cut-throat match in windy temperature dropping by the minute conditions.

This photo taken by disbelieving party in clubhouse.

The only other player on the course was John, but at least he has the excuse of still working, and playing when he has a chance.

Our bar is not real high, but is testing in our future?

Had to add the next one because of golf picture in background.
