Weekend October 30

Friday Results, October Review, Tee Times plus Bud's Boys Fish Fry Details, Scotty Aces His Test

I hate to interrupt those working on their Monday night costumes, but we have a few things to cover in this issue, items past and future. As always you may skip parts 'Witch' do not interest you.

Tee Times 10:00 Every Day!

Fish Fry Monday November 7

If the course is open that day as scheduled, we will play 18 holes and then Tom is going to fry up some fish for us to enjoy. Bob, Scott, Jeff, Leroy, and Shelly are taking care of sides and miscellaneous.

You Must Bring Your Own Beverages as Facilities are Closed!

We need an accurate count, so Tom knows how much to fry up. I hear he hates to waste fish so please inform us if you are coming.

October Review

Hard to believe we have completed our October schedule. We only had 16 days available due to the month starting on a Saturday and ending on a Monday. We lost 1 day to a tournament and 2 to weather but managed 11 regular days and 2 days for our own tourney. Thirty different golfers played 154 rounds for an average of 14 per day. Nineteen participated in the 2-day tourney. Randy and Rodney fared best in choosing good teammates as they topped money list. Westy and Rick will probably cut back on Halloween candy to cover any losses sustained.

Glen added 3 CTP's to take a probably uncatchable lead of 4 with only 2 months left. Jeff added 2 in October to tie for 2nd with 9.

After missing most of September and all of October, Bill is doing much better and intends to play this coming week. Great to hear!

Stan still trying to shake off covid aftereffects, maybe we can get him out to the fish fry.

Friday Results

Beautiful golf weather greeted the 16 players fortunate to get out on our last round of October. It was so nice that Westy predicted that great scoring was in the cards before the first tee shot was struck.

Little did he know how correct he was. There were 22 birdies and an eagle making for a hotly contested rabbit that went 11 holes to find a winner. We had the most closely contested team play in recent memory with 4 of 5 teams finishing on the plus side and all 4 thinking chances good for victory. Tom's 38 points (2-under 70) and Anita's +3 led them to a +5 +5+10 finish that wasn't quite enough to win. Another team's +5 +4 +9 bit the dust. Shelly's +8 pushed her team to win by a nose at +6 +6 +12.

Randy's +3 and Allen's +1 helped out.

Butch proudly posed after winning his 3rd CTP.

Only Mikey and Doc (who was just a ghost of his normal self) saw their hcp drop.

You may have noticed I didn't identify Friday's Medalist yet. We have to go back to Thursday to set this up. Seems Scott had a bad round Thursday. A reallllly bad round. I believe Jeff may have made a cutting remark or two. I may have poked the bear in Thursday's blog. I do know Scott showed up with an attitude.

Yes, he won Medalist with +10. Yes, he went from -10 to +10 in one day. And yes, he padded his score with a hole-in-one on #6!!!

He rightly claimed post-round that he had incentive for today's round.

Move over Reggie Jackson,

Bud's Boys has their own 'Mr. October' with a hole-in-one to go with his 'Champion Golfer of the Year' trophy. Congrats to Scotty for a month to remember!

Side-note; Despite his heroics and Medalist score, his team won nothing, yet golf's stupid tradition had him buying the drinks (don't worry Leroy, he won't forget you). Just ain't fair.

 Kim and Mikey in action.
