Bud's Boys News

Bud's Boys Champion Golfer of the Year

The above trophy in progress is being sculpted and assembled by our in-house artist and handyman Rick. So, it is only reasonable we have a big year end shootout for it to be claimed by 'Bud's Boys Champion Golfer of the Year'.
The secret committee met this past week and here are some of the not yet finalized details.
Will be held early October, dates TBD.
Will be 2-day event.
Will be played per BB's rules (not Semo Seniors). If you play ball up regularly, you can noodle the ball, you cannot move it 2 feet to get out of trash or around a tree or improve your stance.
Hcp number will go up or down after 1st day as normal.
Trophy goes to player with best net score over the 2 days.
We are still kicking around the subject of who qualifies to enter. We want everybody to have a fair hcp number at tourney time. We have 18 BB's who have played 30 or more times this year and those numbers are pretty well set. For part time players, we are trying to come up with some reasonable expectation of rounds needed. Safe to say, the more you play up to the tourney, the more likely you are in. Regardless of everything written above, the idea is for our group to have a fun event to set us apart from other groups and give us an excuse to get together to eat, drink and be merry.

Semo Seniors Cape CC

Bud's Boys can be officially referred to as 'Super Seniors'. At least Bob and Allen, as Bob wins (again) Super Senior group 1 and Allen wins group 2. Glen grabs 2nd in Older group 2 marking another top showing of BB's at Semo Seniors. Clint somehow managed to fall 1 spot short of placing for the 2nd tourney in a row and Dean, Raymond, and Bill played well but didn't get the breaks to finish in the money. Good luck to those playing Crown Pointe on Thursday.

July Review

We played 15 days in July (down 2 from 2021), 29 different players, 189 rounds, an average of about 13 a day. A high of 20 and a low of 4 for 1 day.
Scott played all 15 running his consecutive streak to 85. Glen 13, Tom 12 close behind with Bob, Mikey, Leroy, and Doc at 10.
Money was spread out with only Scott, Allen, and Gary finishing plus in double figures. Bob had the worst stretch of luck this month despite good play having to give back the considerable amount he won in June. I guess it is supposed to even out in the end.
Overall, scoring was really up this month. Here are a few notes I jotted down related to scoring.
Would you believe that of the 29 players who teed up in July, only 2 have a hcp number less than when the month started.
Bill and Scott both had a stretch of 3 straight days of going up. Butch ends month playing extremely well as his 3-day streak is still alive, going for 4.
Raymond has the most impressive streak still going. He started July 12 as a 26 and has moved up 5 straight days to a 31. Can his great recent play hold up to the pressure to reach 6? Come out Tuesday to see.
Also notable is the nine-hole stretches turned in recently. Since my return from vacation, I noted a 19 point back 9 from Westy, 18-point fronts from Clint, Leroy, Butch, and 16 points in first 8 holes for Marty. Twenty plus scoring on 9 holes from Tom, Glen, and Raymond of course. Anyone I left out please add to comments. May our good play continue into August.
