Thurs April 28

This was a very tough day. Doc loses long time; dear friend Ron and Mark Roger is awaiting bypass surgery as I compose this edition. As Doc said this morning, every day is a blessing and let's appreciate those around us. Doc and Roger are in our thoughts today. I hope the following gives you a few minutes away from the more serious and important.

Bud's Boys, The Musical

Today's round started quite differently than usual, as Bob and Allen sang a little duet on the first tee. Now I myself didn't think it was half bad all things considered. However, when I tried to post it, I received a stern warning from Google that they have a minimum standard, and they proceeded in deleting it. Nonetheless, we have our theme for the day, Bud's Boys the musical. We will dedicate songs throughout the post. Let's get started.

Great news to have Rodney come out to play 9 holes, his first time playing with us since Feb 21. Playing partner Mikey thought he did very well, considering the long lay-off. First dedication to Rodney.

From 1976, John Sebastian with "Welcome Back", a TV theme song.

One line in the song, "We tease him a lot, because we got him on the spot, welcome back". Here's to many upcoming chances to tease Rodney.

Fourteen players in the game for 5-dollar Thursday (Course closed Friday).

Next song is dedicated to the whole group.

From 1990, Friends in Low Places, Garth Brooks. No explanation necessary.

This was a rare day in that all 4 teams won at least one event. Josh's 3 birdies on the front (Rabbit) and Jeff's CTP gave their team 2 of the 5.

Andy's team takes front with +8. Next dedication is a little embarrassing. We have all misunderstood lyrics and would sing our own words only to discover the real lyrics years later. Next dedication from 1978, the Commodores "Three times a Lady".

I thought they were saying, "Once, Twice, Three Putts for Andy". My bad.

Leroy's team takes Total with the help of his birdie on 10. To Leroy, all the way back to 1965. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, "A Taste of Honey".

Glen's amazing 21 points (4 birdies) on back 9 gives his team the last piece of the pot. He takes Medalist (+5) and points (37). Kudos to Butch, Jeff, Scott at +4. To Glen from 1964, Roger Miller, "Chug-a-Lug"

Special Dedication

Sunday May 1 will be our anniversary. Forty years ago, May 1, 1982, was on a Saturday.

Now that I think about it, we have been pretty much "together" since the day we met in the summer of 76.

I absolutely know what most of you are thinking. How in the world did he end up with her!
You have to remember the times. I did it the old-fashioned way, the way we did things in "our time".

I had a cool car.

This last dedication goes to my sweetie of 40 plus years. The Temptations, from 1965
