Thurs Jan 13

We will start with news about some of our group. Bob and Doc are on the unable to perform list (golf version). Bob is fighting sinus and back issues. He wishes us well and hopes to return next week. Doc is battling a sore throat. I talked with him today and he definitely sounds like he needs a few days to recover. He did wish to share this shot of today's sunset.

Some of you have asked the whereabouts of John. Guess who I saw at the driving range today, working on his game?

Schedule and weather have not allowed him to join us yet. Expects to make his 2022 debut soon.

Jeff has been watching it rain for several days down in Florida but hopes to get out and play tomorrow. He has a big match with some retired cops. Good luck Jeff, send pics and let us know how you fare. By the way, good idea to get in good with the men in blue, although a little late. Floyd wanted me to send this picture to remind you what sunshine looks like.

We are still waiting for Stan, Norm, Keith, Westy, and Butch to join us soon. Hope all are well.

On to today's action. Twelve of us played pretty much to our number as the group finished minus 1 for the day.

The pre-tournament favorites.

They came in 4th (out of 4)

Steady play by Shelly, Gary, and Allen won the front with +1. Four birdies on the back led them to a +5 back nine and overall victory. Shelly's tee shot on 18 to 5 feet gave them an excellent chance to sweep until Floyd stuffed the next to last tee shot of the day inside 2 feet. Shelly takes Medalist with +6, Tom most points with 32. Brandon made his 2022 debut today. He followed a sluggish 7-point front with 16 on the back for a strong finish. Mikey had the most interesting card of the day. He had a "Trifecta" on the front. A trifecta is 3 birdies, 3 pars, and 3 bogeys for an even par 18 points. Unfortunately, a fourth straight day of walking the course combined with 3 shots of Fireball on the front left Mikey a little weakened, resulting with a 10 point back nine. Yes Jeff, Mikey has crossed to the dark side and I don't think he is coming back.

After the round, Scottie awarded Leroy with the "Ultra" medal (above the Kentucky). I am still a little fuzzy on the details of this award, hope to clarify at a later date.
