Friday Results, Member Updates, Golf Tips, and Blog Advice

Welcome to the late Friday Weekend Edition. We will start with an update from our Medical, Health, and Well-being reporter Leroy. Take it away Leroy.

LEROY: Checked in with Stan and he is doing okay. Doing things around the house, a few back issues but apparently nothing bad. Doc tested negative, just a sore throat from playing in the cold. I have two words for you guys with sore muscles and general aches and pains. TIGER BALM! (Just ignore the smell)
That's all for today. STAY STRONG everyone.

Thank you, Leroy. Also visited with Bob at our post round meeting in the clubhouse. His back is not responding as hoped. He will be a day-to-day decision. Jeff was successful in his match Friday, another free dinner. More on that later.

Amazingly, we played all 5 days this week. Eighteen different golfers combined for 51 rounds. Friday was probably the best day weather wise but only 7 showed, others scared off by a miserable forecast (Nice job Grant).

Tom tips his cap, appreciating the standing ovation after another bomb off the tee.

Tom, Scott, and Glen take front, back, and total but lose Rabbit and CTP, to net a whopping 1 dollar for their efforts. Gary's birdies on 6 & 8 brought his team back from 2 holes down to extend match for an overtime victory. Floyd wins his 2nd consecutive CTP to cut his team's losses. Randy wins Medalist (+5) and total points (35). He also had a "Turkey" with birdies on 14,15,16.

Golf Tips

We have all struggled with hitting a straight shot that is way left or right, realizing afterwards that we were lined up way left or right. Our eyes are looking at the pin, but our feet are not lined up that way. If you line your ball up with the hole, then your feet should be lined up on a parallel line (like train tracks). Here is a tip the next time you are on the driving range. Use an alignment stick to line your feet up correctly. Take a look at this example to get the idea.

Take your stance and look straight down. You will see the line (the one on the ground you dirty old men), make sure your feet are aligned with the stick. Good luck and you are welcome.

Our next tip is from Jeff who sends this from Florida, fresh off another victory down South. He says a little stretching before teeing off really seems to help. He has sent this short video of his routine.

Blog News

If you enjoy reading this blog, make sure you read Jeff's comments at the end. If you notice a blog you have already looked at has a comment, click on it, you do not want to miss Jeff's take on what is going on. Unfortunately, only Jeff and Doc seem to be able to comment, although many of you have tried. Let me see if I can explain this with any clarity. This blog is a google product and to perform any action you need a google account and password. This includes leaving a comment. I have had a google password before the blog and I don't even remember why. Anyway, it is free and here is what you do. Open google, click on the purple person top right corner. Give an e-mail address, make a password, you have a google account. When you make a comment, and it asks for your password, type it in and post. Shelly only had to do it once. When she tried a second comment on a different day, it did not ask for the password. As always you can ask one of the helpful young ladies at the club who help us with our technical issues. Would love to hear more comments, I think.

Still hearing glen's voice following the north wind to the south. Congrats to randy for top spot 16 points way to go. P.S The vertical line up is much better than the horizontal one😜
